If I were you, I would get further testing. While 125 post prandial is within normal specs for a non diabetic, I would be concerned about the thirst. If he had a low calorie meal prior to the test, and were pre diabetic, he could still score a relatively low number. 125 fasting. on the other hand, would definitely be cause for concern. Did the doctor test his hemoglobin A1C? Or how about a glucose tolerance test? That might be more revealing.

Here's a handy chart outlining the various stages of insulin resistance (the precursor to type two diabetes):

There are three cardinal signs of possible diabetes...thirsty all the time, urinating a lot and always being hungry. Having all 3 of these is worth checking into. Drinking too many caffeine drinks will actually make you thirstier. There are other disease processed that can cause excessive thirst besides diabetes, you may need to see an endocrinologist for a more accurate diagnosis.

I'd have him go to the doctor again. Ask them to do an A1c which will provide an idea of what his average glucose has been for the last three months. Also, at what time did they check his sugar? The time does matter... FYI other symptoms include weight loss, fatigue, irritable, and blurry vision. I'm sure it could be a number of other things also.

Good luck! Hope you can figure out what it is and cure it!

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/0M425
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

sorry but 125 is not normal at all.

Regular readings should be betwen 70-110 ( no eating)

everything above those numbers is a red flag. Specially if there is diabetes in his family.

Please take him to get checked ASAP befores gets worse.

Good luck.

alot of doctors are under the conception that 125 is ok. its not. is is what some will call borderline. its going to get worse and eventually maybe when hes 50 or so. that is time now to take action. he may not need meds but i feel he does with being thristy now. you need to find another doctor i guess specialist and tell him that you under no circumstances what your ogans to ruin because of something misdiagnoising this.

If your husband is frequently thirsty, then it is a sign of diabetes. Does he have other symptoms as well such as fatigue, smeared vision, irritability, etc?

You can read more about diabetic symptoms here

Best to go check it up again.
