I have to agree with those who suggest swiss army or leatherman knives.
A "Crocdile Dundee" sized bowie may look flash hanging on your belt, but seriously, what are you going to use it for?
If you have a log fire you will have an axe with you, a large knife is not practical for skinning or cutting up game or fish, in fact I cannot think of any use for anything larger than those suggested.

A Swiss Army knife or Leatherman both are fine for camping.

I carry a Leatherman multipurpose tool! They are awesome! But I also carry a plastic, razor sharp gut hook made by Zak. They were originally made for opening up Salmonoid fish and work totaly like no other gut hook. I now own several and they work very well on small game up to large game no bigger than white tail or black tail deer, which are much larger than you ever need to eat in survival situations.

I personally would choose either a Leatherman or a Swiss Army knife.

Both are good knives and multi-purpose tools.
