It is not directly responsible for it. But stress does have an effect on your blood sugar levels. High stress levels can cause your sugar level to rise. As research continues we have learned that the disease is the result of a poor diet, lack of and active life style and exercise, and genetics. Stress doesn't create it but it certainly plays a roll in it once you have developed it.

I personally don't feel that it is responsible but it does enhance and cause worsening symptoms. Diabetes is a great example. Illness can cause the blood sugar to raise, add stress it goes even higher. Look what it does to blood pressure and your heart. Certainly you have to say that it causes certain illness or diseases to worsen.

Stress is known to compromise the immune system and allow disease, that otherwise wouldn't happen, to occur. Ever heard of fibromyalgia? There are too many facts that support this to argue against it (successfully).

It can make you more susceptible to a disease, lack of eating b/c of it, or lack of sleep, which can lower your immune system. But you can't be stressed and gain cancer from it.
