Solar powered lights convert energy fom any light source, but daylight is the most common and useful. Otherwise, this is a stupid question.

Doh! Just where do you think "daylight" comes from?
Solar power drives ALL energy on the earth. Even fossil fuels are the result of solar energy being converted into coal or oil through photosynthesis of plants in the past and then their biomass being converted to oil or coal by heat and pressure inside the earth.

I was thinking Solotubes too, but Campbell beat me to it.
However, Daylighting is an interesting architectural design technology that could potentially create a massive reduction in the amount of energy our buildings use. Through the use of specially designed windows, reflective surfaces, exterior shading, and other things buildings can be primarily lit by natural light from the sun.
Don't believe me? Check out their website: http://www.daylighting.org/

A window. Or a skylight. Or a solatube, which is basically a fancy skylight. See the source.
