Candles will never be naff, but don't overdo them or you'll set the room ablaze. How about a nice lasagna? It's pretty cheap and easy to make, and I think Italian food is the most romantic. You can prepare it hours in advance so all you'll have to do is heat it up and enjoy it.

set the mood by lighting small candles, nothing too exaggerated with soft music playing in the back ground. Make some cocktails like strawberries and champagne or chocolate martinis. Then instead of doing a full scale meal, make tapas food- like small finger foods. You can do a fondue also. So you could do chocolate covered strawberries, oysters or any other type of aphrodesiac-ish foods. You'll be driving eachother crazy while feeding eachother, you won't need anything else. Also a little black dress helps, alot!

Candles yes, accompany with fresh cut flowers, stargazer lillies have one of the best scents around. Quick and easy food, mmm that's the easy bit. prawn cocktail, tom ketchup and mayo mixed for the sauce served on a bed of chopped iceberg lettuce, you can keep this in the fridge once made. Main One of my favourites and one of my signature dishes, Scampi Portuguese, you will need whole-tail unbreaded scampi, or if you have a lot of prawns left over use them instead, garlic 3 cloves, fresh basil a decent handful, chopped toms enough for 2 people. add the prawns/scampi to a frying pan or wok with olive oil and the garlic which you can mash up on a chopping board. flash fry this for 5 mins then add the toms and basil and cook for 10 mins. To serve just load this onto a bed of linguine or spaghetti, pre cooked and microwaved to save time. Garnish with a sprig of basil. Now you have seafood and garlic working their romantic magic, desert needs to be some thing alcoholic, cook a couple of pears in white wine add some squirty cream to a plate to serve and drizzle with brandy, southern comfort, or any spirit of your choice. Then take a copy of the Kama Sutra to bed, this is quite a light meal and won't make you feel bloated. He he he enjoy while the nippers are out at the MILs no matter what you have to eat. Have fun!

You can have fish, risotto, salad & white wine. Candels is a must (DO NOT burn scented candles). This meal cooks in less than 30 min. but you should prep for it the night before.
White fillet of fish (any kind I perfer Haddock because of the thickness)
Season fish on both sides and pan sear them with a little oil. Once fish is brown on both sides - take them out of the pan & onto a baking sheet - put in the oven until done on 350 degrees (DO NOT OVER COOK)
DO NOT wash out the pan you seared the fish in. In this pan add cherry tomatoes (Red & yellow) if you can not find the yellow that's ok. Put 1/4 of a green. yellow, orange & red pepper into the pan, mushrooms & sautee. Add chicken stock, shrimp, scallops & a little butter to thicken sauce.
After the fish is done put some crab meat on top of fish and pour sauce over fish with all the seafood and peppers, etc.

Have a cold plate -- cheeses, meats, finger vegetables and fruits. Light your fireplace if you have one, or candles are just as good. Set it as close to the ground as possible, on the floor is the best. You can get close and perhaps feed each other at times. Lots of room for "kissing and stealing" each other's food. Honey is also a good sweet to drizzle over certain parts of the anatomy. Just be sure it's all licked off afterward.

If you want something quick and easy it's got to be pasta of some sort - perhaps boiled and a good tasty sauce over? You could start with a salad, then pasta and some crusty bread and a pudding too. Wine or beer and candles (deffo), perhaps soft lighting and soft music too? Enjoy!

Cover yourself in chocolate mousse. It's not romantic, it's dirty and fun and he gets fed! Candles are naff, but naked women covered in mousse are not.
