First , hours before the party, spray the party area with some bug repellent. Place citronella tiki torches all around the perimeter of the party to light after the sun sets. Place your lawn furniture in different groupings spread out in different areas. Have pleanty of extra towels and sunscreen available. Serve simple food like cold cuts and cubed and sliced cheeses, fresh fruit and pizzas. Serve salads in new pails set in large bowls filled with ice to keep them cold. Smoothies and fresh lemonade would be good, healthy drinks to serve. A really fun idea would be to rent a snowball machine and have a snowball bar with all the fixings. Of course you have to have a huge watermellon!. Play games in the pool with beach balls and play 'Hot Potato' with water balloons. Quiet the party down after dark by floating candles in the pool and lighting the tikis. Have disposable cameras sitting around to snap candid shots throughout the party. Hang Xmas lights in the trees if possible. It should be a fun and beautiful party at night.
NOTE: as mentioned above...LET THE NEIGHBORS KNOW IN ADVANCE! Party on. Have fun.

Have good music, lots of snacks and beverages, extra towels, easy access to the bathroom (to keep the floor safe tape a runner down all the way to each available toilet). Make sure to alert your neighbors and let them know you will be playing music and it may get loud - that way they can't complain later and be sure to shut the party down 1 hour before curfew to avoid the cops being called. Have cards and waterproof games on hand (like connect four and checkers or chess) for conversation and down time. Good Luck!
