A person can have chlamydia for years before they find out they have it.

If untreated, chlamydial infections can progress to serious reproductive and other health problems with both short-term and long-term consequences. Like the disease itself, the damage that chlamydia causes is often "silent."

In women, untreated infection can spread into the uterus or fallopian tubes and cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This happens in up to 40 percent of women with untreated chlamydia. PID can cause permanent damage to the fallopian tubes, uterus, and surrounding tissues. The damage can lead to chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and potentially fatal ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the uterus). Women infected with chlamydia are up to five times more likely to become infected with HIV, if exposed.

Complications among men are rare. Infection sometimes spreads to the epididymis (a tube that carries sperm from the testis), causing pain, fever, and, rarely, sterility.

ok so mikael is an idiot, from what i've read and learned from before, a person can have chlamydia up to 6 months, they call it the silent killer, if you've had chlamydia for 2 years you'd be dead.... so having chlamydia for 2 years is..unheard of.

That's a good question. I don't know anyone who's ever had it, so I'm not sure. But, if symptoms are ignored, I would guess they could have it for quite some time.

There may be no signs !! You have to be tested to know for sure if you have it or not!!! I read somewere that you don't have it for more then a year? but i don't know for sure, i had it and don't know why? or if my test was correct or not? I heard you can get a false postive test too ? I wiish now we both got tested to be for sure. so if you get tested and its postive be sure to have your partner tested too so you will know the test is correct or not and you have no doubt about it!!!
