a coked balut could lats for 3 to 4 days if you keep it in the fridge the perfect balut is 17 days old, at which point it is refered to as balut sa puti ("wrapped in white"). The chick inside is not old enough to show its beak, feathers or claws and the bones are undeveloped

The Vietnamese prefer their balut matured from 19 days up to 21 days, when the chick is old enough to be recognizable as a baby duck and has bones that will be firm but tender when cooked

after 21 days it will be fully develop or it will spoil

Uncooked Balut is a volatile food and if not kept at appropriate temperature to continue development to between 17 and 21 days (depending on preference) it is best then to cook and eat while still warm. The nature of Belut even cooked makes it more susceptible to spoilage so I agree with the consume the same day purchased you have been told. Good Luck!

Oh gosh, I know what Balut are...they are fertilized duck eggs, right? I think they are the fetus of ducks that are 18 days old?

Wow! People really like them, huh? I don't think I could try it because I'd be sick (sorry). I think it's because in the Western countries we only eat unfertilized eggs so it just seems very strange to us. I'm sure there are weird things that Westerners eat in your opinion too though ;)
