It's good to celebrate the day you were born with family and friends. But... carve out a little block of time just for you. Maybe an hour or two. Think back about the past year . Conjure up both the sweet and not so sweet memories. Then think about the year ahead. Where do want 2008 to take you? Remember, if you can dream it, it can happen with some push from you.

Unique Ways To Celebrate Birthday

2016-12-30 10:38:57 · answer #2 · answered by mcgrady 3 · 0 0

My favorite birthday was very indulgent. Many years ago (when I made much more money than I ever really needed)... I had decided to spend my birthday away from everyone I know, and do something I'd always wanted to. I saved up a pile of green... had a tuxedo tailored for me... and drove to Vegas with about $8K and a couple credit cards in my pocket. I rented a modest suite... and spent 3 days playing the casinos and doing shows. A couple of the casinos even took notice and threw me quite a few comps. I lost a good bit on the 1st day... won big on the 2nd... and lost a bit on the 3rd. In the end... I drove home only $2K poorer than I'd arrived. (I might have stayed longer... but I only had so much vacation time.)

I still have the tuxedo hanging in the back of my closet.

If you are an adult who owns just about "everything" then how about spending your time with the needy, or the under privileged or in some form of community service? How about taking the money that you would splurge on a spa treatment or a lavish dinner and visit a part of the world that you have never seen such as fiji, new zealand, egypt, madagascar? or How about contributing money to plant some trees or fund a small green space, or funding micro loans (www.kiva.org) in poor countries? If none of these excite you, how about going on an archaeological dig (http://wnights.com/archaeological_expeditions and others), hiking a nearby park, whitewater rafting ? If none of the above excites you, then how about spending an afternoon with your best friends & family at afternoon tea at a nice hotel (four seasons etc..). Good luck and Happy Birthday!

It depends on how old you are, where you live and what are your interests and how much you or your family wants to spend and with who and what time of the year is your birthday.

On my 18th birthday I celebrated it in a very unique way. We rented out a McDonald's branch near us but everyone was required to wear gowns. It was formal but I didn't have to spend so much on a hotel or high-class restaurant. It was really fun and the best birthday I had.

I have an older friend who was told she only had a few months to live at one point in her life. She's celebrated her several birthdays since that time by doing what makes her feel great.

She does things for others. One year she baked cookies all week, and delivered them to her friends on her birthday. One year she brought cake in to a homeless shelter/soup kitchen and celebrated with everyone there, then spent the rest of the day serving meals. Those kinds of things.

Granted, this is a lady that does kind things for others as a daily occurrence, but she finds ways to make it extra special on her birthday.

I think the most important thing other than it being unique and at a certain place, what matters here is that you spend this day with the people you love and the people who love you and that you have a great time. I mean what good is it if you spend it with a couple of people who dont care about you in hawaii and you dont have fun. Hope you have a great time on your birthday if its coming up soon!!!

HI Hilly,
I would have my friends over and give them a gift for life is always taken for granted and giving something to them showing them how much they mean to you is away to tell them that you love them and thanking them for coming to celebrate the day you were born... it does not mean a big gift make it a picture of you with each one of them doing something from the time you first met them or when you were doing something special.. It could of been even at one of their birthdays. You can also but suggestions in a bag of fun things to do, like telling stories of good times you all had together let each one when they draw a name, or suggestion tell the story and see where and what they have to say. This good be fun and surprising. Hope you have a fun and Happy Birthday

Honestly, since so many people have given ideas on how to have a "unique" birthday, and since technology has made it to where good ideas are now televised or shown on YouTube, there's no such thing as a unique idea for a birthday party. If anything, do everything that makes you happy on your birthday. That's about as unique as you can get.
