People are greedy and wasteful. But even if they were not, we would still need lots of energy and mineral resources for such a large population to live reasonably well.

I am assuming that you mean from a macro basis The world and humans in particular? or do you mean personally?
With Population growth, this planet can not sustain the demand that human beings are making. We need to find a way to slow the growth of population while at the same time reducing the food, energy and materials we all require to sustain life.

in todays life humans are generally consumeing more than they produce.. this is becoming a problem.. there may be enough storages/ supplies now.. but it will run out...
