I was on prednisone for about 16 days and have been off of it for about 6 weeks now. I've never had imsomnia before but I am up until 4 or 5 every morning. Lunesta helps a little but not much. Has anyone else had problems like this?

Yes the prednisone you took could be affecting your sleep now. Drugs like that damage your liver and can affect your endocrine system. You do not need to take all the drugs for sleeping because they will further damage your liver and can create many other problems with the body.

I've never know anyone to be deficient in drugs.

Pneumonia is generally associated with kidney problems. It's amazing to me how allopatic medicine has taken over our health care system. Instead of getting rid of what is causing the problem with the body, medical practitioners are trained to treat the symptoms and drug companies feed this insanity in search of high profits.

Most likely, your circadian rhythm has been altered and this can be fixed. The penal gland in the brain is responsible for secreting serratonin and stimulating melatonin production for a good nights sleep.

If you have any light in your room, this will prevent the penal gland from making the hormones you need and you will not get a good nights sleep. You need at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep to allow your body to go into a REM sleep mode to recharge your adrenal glands. If you get up in the night or don't get that 5 hours, you will not have energy the next day, etc.

Sleeping pills are insidious and should be avoided at all costs. They should be outlawed and drug companies that make them should be run out of town for what they do to the body.

I have found a company that makes wonderful products made of grade 10 herbs that will fix the circadian rhythm and provide the melatonin in it's "end chain form" that will give you a wonderful sleep and help put you to sleep ALL naturally.

Do not buy melatonin tablets you see in health food stores or drug stores. It is junk and will damage your DNA.

Go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and purchase the following:

Tranquinol --- Take 2 of these 1 hour before bed time. This takes about 10 days to reset your rhythm. It is not a drug and is all natural herbs.

Melatonin --- This is a liquid; put 1 to 2 drops under our tongue at bed time.

I would also highly recommend you clean your liver and gall bladder because those drugs you took have greatly affected them. I suggest from the same company buying the "liver detox and gall bladder detox." This will also lower your LDL cholesterol and help raise your HDL and help with any blood pressure issues you may have.

The pneumonia issue is most likely not solved completely. I would suggest you also get the "kidney complex" and take about 6 of those per day for a month or so to help clean the kidneys.

One other thing. If you feel yourself coming down with a cold or flu symptom, you can take 1 or 2 nucleotides every hour all day long and the next day you will see that you will not get the cold or flu. This will help you to avoid a recurrence of the pneumonia problem. You can purchase those at the same web site.

Avoid flu shots. This garbage is loaded with mercury as a preservative and will affect your liver and brain tissue in a very negative way. Beef up your immune system instead. I have not had a single cold or flu now in 5 years. I do not take any drugs or flu shots and am exposed to people with it all the time.

good luck to you

I have respiratory diseases and I was put on Prednisone but instead of it helping me breathe.....it did just the opposite. I took one pill and never took it again.
The summer isn't even over yes and it is very common for you to feel tired. You had a serious illness. If you were on any antibiotics, they do tire you out. Give yourself a chance to get back to normal, as it hasn't been that long. Your body has been through alot and your body was fighting off the double-pneumonia and the virus. Prednisone will also tire you out. Be patient, take it easy. I know you must be desperate for sleep.
Prednisone is a steroid and is given for severe respiratory illnesses. It also lowers your resistance and can set you up for catching another illness. It is the right thing to gradually take you off this med. If you are on it once a day....take it in the morning with food. Prednisone may cause insomnia too and I think that may be the reason for the Lunesta. I wouldn't continue on a sleeping pill for too long as dependence can be a result of the med.Let your physicial monitor this drug as he/she may have to lower it or even raise it gradually to clear up all your symptoms. I hope the doctor took you off Prednisone gradually.
Let your body heal and get your rest. If the insomnia isn't helped or gets worse, consult your doctor. I hope you feel better soon. Try relaxation tapes or meditation. Just laying around can make you more tired. I have a Homedics sound machine and go to sleep with the sounds of the ocean every night. Feel better!

I had pneumonia last summer and this summer. I understand your not being able to sleep well. I found that Xanax helped me to sleep afterwards. There's so much difficulty with sleep after having pneumonia so realize it's quite normal. You might want to drink a hot cup of Chamomile Tea with honey to help you sleep And also to open up the respiratory system.

My husband's antihistamines keep him awake--sudafed, especially. Lunesta is only a mildly effective product--I've been using it for several years. Ambien is a much better product.

Go over your meds with your dr. or your pharmacist and see if any of them have the potential to keep you awake at night. You know, I can't take Flonase at night! It gives me a bit of energy and then I can't sleep!

Xanax is a good mood drug, and helps you sleep. Klonipin is much the same. But both are highly addicting. So if you do use them, get off as soon as you can.

Take care,
