I just passed my 18th anniversary of being Vegetarian this week. I was vegan for 5.5 of those years, and will be again within the year (Once I get truly settled).

I am proud of you also.

While I do eat red meat my self am tired of the inhuman killing, waist produced, and treatment of the animals. I would love to see them do better. I have often thought about taking all meat that is non-wild out of my diet. I just don't think I could handle it as I love my red meat. For those of you who are a vegetarian for this reason be proud you are a very brave person. I myself have talked about this for years usually why I am buying my next 20lbs of beef. To those who just don’t believe in meat good for you keep standing up for what you believe.

My mom is a red meat vegetarian because red meat makes her very sick anymore. What would you call this?

The main reason I posted is two fold.

One I would like to know the difference between vegetarian and vegan?

Two. To tell those who eat meat like my self to stop slapping it in their face with one or two word posts.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and have been for 20+ years. The last few months, though, I've been cutting my dairy and eggs down to virtually nothing because I'm thinking of going vegan. Working on it, anyway.
