A ketogenic diet will help to control NIDDM if you stick to it. It could "cure" almost all type 2 cases. Type 1 is a different story.

What do you think diabetes 2 is only be controlled through medicines but no
permanent cure? If you think like that then you should switch to daily news

As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

The cure for type 1 will come first as a results of stem cell research.
After that, I am not sure.
The drug company's will continue to come out with more and more "treatments ", such as inhaled insulin ,easier testing machines and different type of insulin.
Why cure it , from the drug company's perspective ?
Diabetes is a cash cow.Now, who would want to cure that ??
