I have exercised-induces and allergy-induced asthma, and it's a real problem for me. I have tried every inhaler and asthma-preventative there is, but they don't work for me. I am allergic to a lot, things like grass, pollen, ragweed, trees, dust, mold, etc., and whenever someone is cutting the grass or, if I'm just running around outside a lot, I get an asthma attack than cannot be stopped by my inhaler. I get two allergy shots a week, which will help, but it may take a couple years before I get results. I really want to play field hockey again this year, but last year I had a lot of problems. What should I do?

If you don't have your asthma under control then you really shouldn't do field hockey. I tried to do sprinting when I didn't have my exercise induced asthma under control, and several times at practice I got asthma so bad that I almost blacked out, so I had to quit. I have found that my asthma is a little better indoors, which is probably true for you too, so maybe you could try volleyball, basketball, or indoor hockey (ice or roller). I didn't have much of a problem with color guard in high school.

I have exercised induce asthma, played soccer for 14 years, also dance, played lacrosse on college level and was in army. If you condition yourself it wont be as bad. Train yourself, you might have to stick to defense but if build yourself up you can do it. Just make sure you use your inhaler before you start running.

Talk to your doctor about the activities you can and you cannot do. I've heard swimming is good for asthma because it involves breathing exercises.

you have asthma but dont worry it is curable.
1.firstly,morning walk is must.
2.eat green vegetables as much as you can.
3.drink juice two times in a day.
4.avoid anger and most importantly tension.
5.remains happy as long as you can.

You might need to sit it out this year...for the good of your health in the long run...when you are better you can play again...
