I am turning sixteen in just under 6 months. I live in California, about a half hour drive from the San Francisco bay (although I have many friends who live a lot closer). For various reasons I
have not had a birthday party in three years, and have also won some fairly hefty scholarships, so my parents are giving me a generous budget for this party.
I'm really just brainstorming right now, though! I want to have about 30-40 friends at my party, and I'm thinking that it should be a half day event. My ideal party would be brunch/lunch on a cruise from 2-3 hours.. dancing isn't necessary, just time to talk and chill and watch the sights. Does this sound fun? Does anyone know of cruise lines that offer such services? Would it be better to try to get a small yacht just for my party, or a public yacht and just claim a section of it? Should I think of an entirely different party idea?

Thank you in advance!

It sounds like a huge amount of fun! Check the yellow pages, and then double check with the Better Business Bureau. Maybe the small yacht would be more fun than trying to stake out a section of the bigger one -- but check the bigger ones to see if they have party rooms.

Just call down the list in the yellow pages.

I think this is a great idea, and you should only think of a different idea if the yacht thing is not working out by Sept. 30. You still have tons of time.

Do you want menus? This is food and drink. I would recommend croissants with assorted butters and jams, mini-quiches, fruit salad/fruit plate/fruit onna stick, and some nice salads to round it off. Maybe a smoothie bar, where someone make up custom smoothies for your friends. Keep it light, just in case anyone gets seasick. Stock crystallized ginger -- it's a natural sea-sickness remedy. Have them try some as they board.

Congrats!

I live in Brisbane Australia and we can hire yachts and boats for parties. Why don't you look in the phone book for boat charter.
