This is the minimum number that my daughter gives. 2 shots of Lantus, plus a shot of Novolog everytime she eats or tests high. She uses a pen for the Novolog - very quick and easy.

I am type II and inject morning and evening with Lantus and before each meal with Novolog. It wasn't always that way, but with age comes a loss of functioning in many parts of the body and mine was in the pancreas. I'm a senior citizen. The Novolog is short acting for what you eat at that meal. The Lantus carries you through the rest of the time. For me it is especially important at night so I don't wake in the morning with 200+ sugars.

I used to take 4-6 shots a day. One shot with each meal (Humalog) and one shot at bedtime (Lantus). What a pain (literally and figuratively).

I have an insulin pump and I love it.

I was on a pump for several years, then off it for several years and now back on it. During the time I was off it, I was on Lantus.

MDIs are a hassle, especially for those of us who require more than 2 shots a day. Pumps are a godsend for people like us.

I am considered Type 1.5 and I inject 4 times a day, maybe 5 in the near future. You are NOT alone, Sweetie!

LUCKY!!!

I take one every time I eat (3 for meals more for snacks), every time I test high (at least 3 more), and then one at 5:00 (lantus) making that a minimum of 4 if not high or no snacks, so I usually take around 10 per day!

Some of us type 2 diabetics also inject with every meal!!

Have you discussed with your doctor maybe getting a pump? Everyone I know who has one is really happy to only have to change or stick every three days!! Finger testing goes on and on forever tho!!

you must have control problems with sugar and that is what they are doing. my mom has 3 times with insulin. but i assure you there are many out there that have it that many times for reasons like you. its too keep your sugars down to not mess up your organs.

Meat, nuts, eggs, & cheese have no sugar, but have a lot of fat. Whole grain carbs turn into sugar slower.
