I can't eat a lot of things from France because they contain dairy. Most non-European people are lactose intolerant, so it isn't too healthy for us. We also have a lower tolerance for alcohol because of what's called "Asian Flush" (a colloquial term for an enzyme deficiency, not enough room to explain.) Contrary to what most foreigners believe, all of us aren't purely of European descent. I'm mostly Native American, for example, and there are people from every country and ethnic group on the planet in the US. What is compatible to a French person's body isn't to a Native, and so on. If I were to eat your people's food, I'd be 250 pounds and diabetic. If you ate ours, not much would happen, but you might have a reaction to the tree nuts and gluten as many Europeans are sensitive to both of those.
Don't forget the indigenous American foods, like corn, beans, squash, and my personal favorite, kanuche (ganvtsi, it's a Cherokee specialty soup we make from hickory nuts. Good for you and works for vegetarians as well.)

I've never heard that France was known for healthy food. Think about it: pastries, fois gras, lots of butter in everything...
On the other hand, while America as a whole is known for mostly fast food, individual regions are also known for their cuisines. California is known for healthier cuisine, for instance.

OH, I LOVE those things. I eat one every day for lunch at work. I really like them a lot. However, I only eat meatless ones because I don't really eat a lot of meat anyway, and I think the meatless ones taste better. Today, I'm having my favorite...Santa Fe rice and beans. YUM! I started eating them because if you look on the box, they are low calorie, ALL contain LESS than 700mg of sodium, and right on the front it says no preservatives. I was surprised at how good the meatless ones are. The meat ones are probably good if you eat a lot of meat. I also like the cheese ravioli, cheese canneloni (sp?), and the roasted potato, broccoli and cheese sauce. YUM!! I never have to worry about making a lunch or having to eat some garbage now that I have my Lean Cuisines. :)

Yeah..I know what you mean. France may have something here other than Big Macs. I also noticed that they manage to incorporate wines into their schedules and diet as well.
We should look into that a bit more.
Anyone here from France? What wine goes well with gator tails?

Most of their sauces contain tons of butter, also. I think it's their eating habits, not their cuisine, that is healthier. They only eat three meals and don't snack a lot in between like Americans do.
