There is one huge one at the base of his skull. I am worried that it is in a very dangerous place. He has run no fever and it looks as though it is coming to a head and is going to drain. He refuses to see a doctor no matter how much I beg him to. He says he does not feel like sitting in the doctor's office till next week. I am worried . It does not have any red lines or anything running out of it. It is the location that really worries me! Am I being paranoid?

Tell your husband that spending time waiting at the doctors office will be one h3ll of alot easier than the hassle he will have if he gets a bacterial infection in his brain. Like it or not he has a disease that does not give a rat's a$$ about his schedule or his right to live the way he wants to. A doctor's appt. is a small price compared to what can happen if he ignores this. I got my foot amputated because I didn't want to be hassled with a doctor's appointment for a small water blister. Now I loooove sitting in the Dr's office!

You are not paranoid, with the abscess being at the base of the skull, it is dangerous. If you are totally unable to get him to go to the doctor, make sure to keep cleaning it, and when it ruptures, bandage it and make sure you keep it clean and medicated. unfortunately this will be a common problem with him being a diabetic. call his doctor, and he or she can give you better advice.

You are not being paranoid and your husband is in denial. You are absolutely right to be worried, you husband's condition is extremely dangerous and should be attended to immediately. Do whatever you have to do to get him to the emergency room now.
