is it healthier for diabetics to take sugar substitutes (Sweet n Low) or pure honey?

any artificial substitutes/sugars (sweet and low, splenda, equal...) and better than natural/real sugars. Pure honey is pretty much pure sugar, which will cause your blood sugar to go high if you don't take a shot.

That depends on how much the person must have sweets. With me, I tend to avoid sweets. A little sugar or honey, now and then, doesn't bother me a bit.... like a cookie or two. Now, if I were to drink a Pepsi with those cookies, that would be a different story. So, you see, it's a matter of amounts. If I were to have a slice of cake with frosting, I would be better off with sugar substitutes. But since I lost my taste for sweets many decades ago when I was taught that sugar is what caused my mother to become diabetic, I programmed sweets out of my diet. Only to find out a couple of years ago that sugar doesn't cause type 2 diabetes. Poor diet does:

Sugar subsititutes are carcinogenic, neurotoxic, and have the chemical composition of insecticides (which makes sense considering most of them were discovered while trying to formulate new insecticides), besides the fact that a pack of Splenda or Equal is 99% sugar anyway and 1% substitute (consider the parallel to rat poison, 99% food, 1% poison).

If your immediate reaction is, well my dr. said they are ohk, please consider that the entire health profession also said that smoking was ohk for 30 years.

Sweet stuff, besides fruit, is good in moderation. Even people without diabetes can't pig out on HFCS for long without some negative effect.

Probably SweetNLow, Equal or Splenda. Honey is natural sugar and will turn into glucose. The artificial sweeteners won't.

the artificial sweeteners are better because they will not raise your glucose unlike honey. do be careful though, some people tend to have allergies to some sweeteners.

I have diabetes and both my regular doctor and my endocrinologist told me the best thing is SPLENDA.
