Vegetarianism does not mean thriving only on Nuts. Too many Nuts in general and Peanuts in particular are not good. All nuts are rich in oils and fats. Each gram of fat gives 9 Calories as against each gram of carbohydrate or protein(each give 4 calories per gram) They are likely to increase the triglycerids VLDL,LDL and decrease HDL -not good for Heart or brain(Stroke).Too much of Peanuts or Peanut oil,Peanut butter said to create Liver slugishness(Pittam) according to Ayurveda.

None. You don't NEED to eat peanuts or any nuts (peanuts aren't nuts - they are a dried legume) if you're vego unless you really want to. It's a lot harder to become malnourished whilst eating a broad range of fruit & veg than those short sighted omnivores would have you think. It's very difficult in fact.

I don't think there is a set amount. It depends what else you eat as well. There are some days I dont eat any nuts at all. It's not a mandatory daily food.
