it's not as much a question of how much dander the cat has as how YOUR system reacts to it. if you're having allergic symptoms, there are many medication out there today that can help you relieve the symptoms with relatively few or no side effects.
i recently have had the same problem and contacted the local SPCA who told me that they no longer see bathing cats as a real option for dander allergies.
your best bet is to get medical testing for animal specific dander and let your doctor suggest a treatment plan.
i also just bought an air purifier (stay away from those ionic ones, get one that actually circulates the air and purifies it) and it has helped me tremendously! good luck!
