we recycle all that we have, and we even recycle are belongings ( old furniture and other crap) Using a national website called freecycle which you can offer anything you want and someone else can come and collect it all for free, you can even ask for stuff and get it off peoples hands free,

Where i live our local council provides us with black bins to put things like jars, tins ,plastic bottles etc into. They r about the size of a stacker box. At the moment i don't recycle banana skins and that sort of stuff but want to start composting those to reduce the trash. They also accept things like clothes and shoes and give them to charity. I feel i could recycle a lot more even though the recycling box is filled every week.

Seeing as I am a recycling officer i do always try and do my bit the hard bit is when Im out an about its near impossible to take all my recycling home or like when I was at a festival it pained me to leave so much rubbish behind. I could also compost at home altho I have no garden and I supose rarely waste food...coz I like to eat it.
As for general recycling of course i recycle it all theres no reason not to these days. I just hope businesses stop packaging so much...and that my boyfriend would stop chucking stuff away without thinking coz im bored of goign thro the bin!!!!

Recycling is so easy and also benefits us and the environment.
I recycle all paper, plastic, glass, tins/cans etc and ensure they are put out for collection.
Garden waste in recycled in the brown bin and I ensure that all garden waste is included.
I do have a concern about packaging from supermarkets - way too much and often the recyclers do not take plastic trays from meals etc. I put them through the dish washer to ensure they are clean and they still don't take them.
We should encourage everyone to recycle as we rarely have a full general rubbish bin - love it.

I recycle as much as possible but the main problem is the level of information from governing bodies as to what can be recycled, i have tried getting this from our local council and the information conflicts with the information i received from another source. Plus information is now emerging about things we thought were easy to recycle now are not. I give all unwanted clothes to Oxfam or Red Cross and try and recycle white goods if still working, but you are stuffed there again because many charities, local authorities and other groups won't take things like TVs because of the danger element, i.e if the TV blows up and catches fire i would be responsible
you can't win.

Yeah, I could do better. I heat my house with discarded pallets,
I feed food waste to hens which provide eggs and fertilizer from which I grow vegetables. I also compost all garden waste for this as well, Some of the hardwood trimming is used to smoke fish -home caught- and meat. Apparently our septic tank won`t produce enought methane to be of any use.
I still throw away plastic bags and bottles as our Council don`t offer an alternative.
We still seem to have more rubbush than our neighbours. Beats me why though!

Where I live, recycling is pretty advanced and the city also takes compost (including many items that you can't compost in your own garden). Our "garbage" only gets picked up every second week and it's usually very light.
Still, I have my "bad" moments when a small scrap of paper ends up in the garbage instead of recycling. And I'm getting sick to death trying to Freecycle old furniture and other large items. Shame on me.

I'm a recycling fanatic. I make sure every last little scrap of paper gets into the bin. Even those little scribbles of paper left in a notebook after you rip a page out.
I also try to only buy greeting cards that are printed on recycled paper.

Green box provided by council takes paper, glass and all cans/tin foil.
I take cardboard (cereal boxes etc), plastic bottles and plastic bags to my local supermarket recycling centre.
Garden rubbish goes into a separate wheelie bin provided by the council.
Old clothes go to charity.
My general rubbish wheelie bin is rarely more than 1/3 full, we try to recycle everything we can.

I wish I could recycle plastic, but we have nowhere to drop it off unles we travel to a council waste tip 3 buses away.
Other than that we recycle everytinge except food waste as we dont have a garden so no composter. Our local council does offer free composters to households though.

No - Why ??????
Because my council (In Somerset) does not collect CARBOARD OR PLASTICS.
Instead we (The whole town) is expected to gather it plastics & card and take them to the local recycle centre.
RESULT ? People not not have the transprot or the time and if everyone turned up at the site it would be overrun in half a day.
So a lot of stuff ends up binned.
