Passion Party?

If someone gives you an invitation to a passion party and at the bottom it says please bring a small hors'deovre(spelling?) do they really want you to bring a little snack or is it a joke??

they are requesting you bring a small appetizer
how about cheese and pepper(pecker)oni lol and crackers
