My neighbour uses abusive language in common areas of an apartment block I live in. It is really annoying! The person is drunk very often (if not all the time), smokes in common corridors and lifts, spilling cigarette ash anywhere (e.g. in front of my door). The neighbour lets the dog to pee on the corridor's carpet, sometimes it would be in front of my apartment. I happen to know that the person does not have a permission to keep the dog.
I have never confronted the neighbour as the person is definitely scary.
I made an official complaint (both verbal and in writing) to Strata. The situation seemed to be improved but lasted for about 2 weeks only. Currently, it's the same as it was before the complaints. It really gets on my nerves as rent's prices are going through the roof, yet I still have to put up with something like that. What should I do next? Is there anyone in a similar situation? Please let me know how to resolve the issue. Many thanks for your time!

I think moving is your only choice.

Oh, I really feel for you.......this sounds awful and you shouldn't have to tolerate it!

All I can say is that you must keep complaining! Keep a diary of everything that the neighbour is doing wrong. Get video and photographic evidence if possible - it's not too difficult to collect evidence these days due to mobile phone technology.

Have you talked to the other people in the apartment? Perhaps get some kind of group together and start an action group - there's weight in numbers after all.

You could try kidnapping the dog when the neighbour is blind drunk and taking it to the dog pound claiming it's a nuisance stray.

Superglue their front door lock so that they can't get into their apartment. If they start to make a noisy fuss then call the Police and have them taken away for a night in the police cells.

Yes, I cope with alsorts where I live believe me and complained with some results and not so good results. I have confronted my neighbour and it has been very difficult but thank God literally it has cooled down a bit. The only other opion for you if it bothers you that much is to move and I know that it is expensive and it is not an easy thing to do. You could also try the CAB for advice about what to do. I understand perfectly outside my flat door they use it as a rubbish heap. I turn a blind eye cause occasionally they clear it. I just make sure that inside my flat is calm. I cannot control what goes on outside. As for the dog there is nothing you can do about that I wouldn't involve yourself in their issues if you can avoid it. Keep your letters to your landlord, keep all copies of them and persistently try to get things changed. It requires great patience, sometimes I've lost it and argued but that is not a good way. You don't have to say anything to your neighbour but just smile anyway. You never know you might just prod his conscience to not be too bad. Miracles do happen!

Don't deal with this neighbor, directly. Tell your management once again, and mention that you may have no choice except to move if this keeps up. You deserve better, especiallly for the price you are paying to live there. It should be pleasant.

I hope there is an abundance of places you can live in your city. If so, prepare to move if the problem is not resolved.

But, I wonder how a person like the annoying one you are having trouble with gets to live in a supposedly decent, high rent place. Generally, the low lifes are not admitted.

Or perhaps you can stay the trouble maker out, till he moves out to the ghetto where he would be more welcome. (Ha ha, to think these types may be highly paid professionals or highly paid Social Security recipients.)

Are you specific you're no longer residing in my residing house? i've got no longer seen you there until eventually now, yet you're telling my tale!! I even have an identical difficulty. I even have opened the front door and exclaimed in a bowled over voice, to the teenage boys pounding down the stairs after slamming their front door, that they are specific noisy. I even have opened my front door and appeared outdoors on the upstairs window whilst my pals have been stomping on their floor or vacuuming for the 5th time in one day (whilst they vacuum, it actually sounds like heavy equipment being scraped around the ceiling and it feels like the roof will fall down). This has helped somewhat. I even have had to knock on the door and talk to them or to go away a notice for them asking them to be extra quiet, however the mother isn't residing house as in many circumstances by using fact the lads are, and the lads are boorish and rude and issues could in all hazard worsen if I did that. i visit objective to speak to their mom as quickly as I see her contained in the parking zone (not often) by using fact she is truly a intense high quality individual. I want you success in dealing with your pals and that i'm hoping you'll want me success besides!

I really question why you are posting here. You did the correct thing in the first place, and should refile your complaint, or do whatever step comes secondly!

Someone will probably suggest a shotgun, or something equally as stupid. You already know the right route, continue to deal with this in a civilized and legal manner.

if your landlord doesn't do anything about it, if your neighbor is violating any public laws (such as public intoxication that is not within their home) you can contact your local police and advise them that you have contacted your landlord, but nothing has been changed....good luck!
