I'm not planning anything just yet, but I do know that I would love to go to New York City for my honeymoon (if I ever decide to settle down). I'm just curious as to where you want to/are going to/did go to on your honeymoon.

We are deciding between Spain, Greece and some Eastern European cities (Berlin, Prague, Vienna). It's so hard to choose because there are so many places we'd like to go.

Our ideal destination would have been London. Alas, we couldn't afford it then. But we had a fantastic time on the honeymoon we did have.

We drove up the coast from just north of San Francisco, where we were living, and meandered our way up to Vancouver. We arranged a place to stay for Vancouver in advance, and just stopped where we felt like it along the road. After a couple days in Vancouver, we spent a couple days on Victoria Island. Then we took a slightly different road back.

I was wonderful. We had a goal, but we weren't locked into a lot of specific plans along the way, so there was a sense of adventure about the whole trip. We lucked into a couple really nice B&Bs that had good mid-week specials, and spent the night laughing over the crap accomodations the AAA guidebook convinced us would be okay a couple other times.

We poked around tiny junk shops at the side of the road, ate anyplace that looked interesting or smelled good, saw a terrific play in Ashland on the way back home...just did whatever the spirit inspired us to do.

And on the ferry over to Victoria, we found a brochure for a place that could have been the tackiest place on earth, but turned out to be ideal for us: The Olde Englande Inn. An English couple who emigrated to Canada in the 1950's had put together basically a Tudor village and opened it up as a hotel and set of shops. It was fantastic. Our bed had purple plush curtains and I was able to get kippers for breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The whole thing was well back from the road and surrounded by oak trees so you felt completely removed from the workaday world, but it wasn't much of a walk to the road, and when you got there, the bus stopped right at the end of the drive.

We had an amazing two weeks gypsying along.

Then a few years later we took our dream trip to London, which was also incredible.

But I've long ago come to the conclusion that while there are some places I want to see and visit more than others, the important thing isn't where we are, but that we're in the same place.

Well NYC is great in all but I agree with what some of the others have said...not only is it one of the most expensive places you could go for a honeymoon but also there is too much to do...to many places to see. I live about 1-2 hours from NYC and can take the train there whenever I want so I wouldn't ever choose it. Every time I got here...as much as I like shopping there I just get stressed with all the people rushing everywhere, cars honking and traffic jams plus on a cloudy day...everything just seems...color blind I guess...like all Gray. That's not pretty. I mean if you do decided to settle down you get one week to enjoy being married and letting that all sink in before you go back to your normal life with your normal jobs...Don't you want to go somewhere where you can relax? I mean in NYC they rush around like their butts are on fire just trying to get a cup of coffee!!!

I'm getting married 8-8-08 and I told him I want a romantic island location that is civilised enough to go shopping during the afternoons, lots of nice places to eat and drink and then the next morning I can just chill and swim all day in the pools and on the beach. My mom is from Puerto Rico and I have family there and my mom owns a house there so we are probably going there. My parents met on a Marine base in Oahu Hawaii so I wanted to go there too...they got married there. Also Ireland because my fiance's family's from there, Italy or the Caribbean Islands would be nice too. Those were my top pics...But most of them have a meaning and sentimental reason for wanting to spend that special time there. Maybe when you find that person you want to settle down with there will be a special place that will be sentimental to you too!!! Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be whats right for you :)

We were going to go camping to find a secluded spot to hide out for awhile, but my brother surprised us with a honeymoon at a themed inn--Anniversary Inn--each room has a different theme. It's so cool! Next time I want to stay in the Swiss Family Robinson, or the Egyptian room...so many to choose from!

My husband chose to marry in Vegas, so I got to choose where we´ll honeymoon-Italy.
I´m not doing it to see the sights, but to enjoy the food-I love Italian.

I would love to go to NY too-I was born there, and lived there for about 3 years, but don´t remember anything about it. It´s supposed to be an awesome city, and we have to go there one of these days to do something about papers I need here in Germany, so a trip will be in our future.

Thailand again!! In a heartbeat. On one of those non-touristed islands where it is just us and the hotel hardly populated ( and you have almost your own chef cuz no one is staying there) and a book and no electricity until 6pm.. (no hot water until then either). It is so slow paced! And you could stay there for a long time becasue it is so cheap to live and eat there!! And interesting! Not to mention- warm sunset swims every night. With a crescent moon.. and dangling star.. It is my heaven. I would LOVE to go back.

NYC is an awesome place, but not for honeymoon, too much to do and see, rush, rush, rush, you need something relaxing. I got engaged in Tobago in the West Indies, married in Sri Lanka and had my first anniversary in Bali. All wonderful, relaxing romantic places, recommended..........

We went to Bora Bora and I think it was the ideal choice for us, because we wanted something quiet, beautiful, and private for our honeymoon. We just kicked back and relaxed.
