should i just run like hell? or would that just alert it to me? or what?

If there are cows in the field as well as the bull you should be safe. If not then back off slowly - don't run. Bulls, like other animals will attack if they feel threatened, any sudden or quick movement could make them wary.

And it doesn't matter what colour you're wearing as bulls are colour blind, the red rag idea comes from Matadors waving a red cloth to attract the attention of the bull, the reason the cloth is red is to hide the blood from the Matador, not to attract the bull.

If there is a bull in a paddock there should be signs to this effect, best not to enter in the first place and certainly not if you're on your way to a fancy dress party dressed as a cow.

Tends to depend what they're doing. If it starts walking towards you back off slowly but keep an eye on the bull, if it speeds up, turn round and leg it! Head over the nearest wall or gate, or just up a tree.
