There seems to be a lot of confusion in the answers, so I will try to clear up some of that. Christians believe that we are born with a sin nature, a tendency to do evil. If we become Christians, the Holy Spirit works through us to do good works. But we will never be completely free of sin until we reach heaven. The Apostle Paul says that he warred against his flesh, because he did evil he didn't want to do, and did not do good he wanted to do. That said, a person who engages in especially egregious evil and claims to be a Christian is probably lying. Hitler wasn't a Christian; he was involved in the occult. He used the Christian faith as part of his arsenal to deceive the people.

Being Christian, despite it's image, doesn't mean you are perfect... but merely that you follow a certain path; the path of Jesus.

Lol, naturally.. Christians are not SUPPOSED to be evil..but then again... perhaps "evil" is in the perspective of the beholder.

For example.. "killing" is okay in many barbaric culture.. simply because, they feel their god is reason enough to justify it.. despite how evil and injust the situation may be..

So, yeah... you can imagine many "christians" in the past having done SO many sins.. with the mindset of haing done well..

But that's all about perspective.. and perspective is about individuality.. (a lot of the times)..

the point is; yes.. you can be Christian and still hae flaws.. as long as you are human enough to do so....

I think Christianity basically gives you a basic idea of how humans should be.. but.. it's okay if you fail, I suppose...

oh wait... no... I almost forgot... there's that whole "you'll be thrown into the pits of hell thing" ... hmm.. oh well, there always has to be some kind of "tactic" to force people into your belief... XD..

Ahem... (j/k) ? <.<

>.>

Personally, I believe GOD is open minded and loving.. and kind and pretty much LOVE itself. God is no "He" nor is God a "She" and no one can understand this being so easily as to say "He will punish you... if you don't... " I think if you do commit a "sin" or "slip up" there is a reason... and if God is "the ultimate supreme creator of all who controls all and knows what he is doing" we should not question "his" doings by judging others and what you feel is "Bad"

If we can understand the concept of "understanding others and being in their shoes.." (us .. mere mortals!) then I think the supreme creator of the Universe itself should know 10x as better than that!

lol sorry about the long message.. :)

Absolutely - how many Christians out there have molested or killed a child or killed a whole family (sometimes their own) after a night of drinking and turned around and said that they should be forgiven because they are normally a good Christian person? So many people out there use religion as a crutch - they lie, cheat and steal and try to get away with as much as they possibly can all week long but on Sunday they take a 2 hour hiatus so that they can claim to be a Christian. Just believing in Jesus and his "teachings" doesn't mean you live them. My husband and I know a "christian" guy and his wife who consistently lie about their financial situation to get people to give them free stuff (even fix their entire house) because they are "poor" Christians (who are not poor by any means) and another guy who works for cash to keep from having to pay support for his 3 kids (who are grown now, but lived in complete poverty their whole lives while he was living it up). You would think that if they were striving to live the life of God that eventually it would have sunk in how wrong they were. Of all the people we know - the Christian ones are the worst human beings, the most likely to try and take more than their share, get away with more illegal and immoral acts and be terrible people in general. Isn't it odd how so many people "find" Jesus in prison after being busted on drug charges, rape, murder or whatever - then come out of prison and commit the same crimes again - if Prison is where Jesus lives count me out.

A Christian who is a true Christian can not do or be evil, because the love of God is in himself, and this is how the Holy Spirit of God knows who belongs to Christ and who doesn't.

A true Christian can become agresive and loose his temper if he does not watch himself as long as he is living in this evil world, because he is still flesh. So if you do not subject your flesh to the Holy Spirit and continue your agrivation, the Holy Spirit will live you and evil will get a hold of you.

To subject the Flesh to the Holy Spirit one must learn not to understand, but to value things and events. Example:
Should I punish my child for not doing his homework early?
A child gets up at 7:00 AM to go to a school for 7 hours, then comes home to do 2 or 3 hours homework

! FOR WHAT! and what has he learned?, He has learned at 10 years old that homosexuality is a normal thing, when he doesn't even know how sex feels like. If he would turn homosexual I would understand him as much as I would try to help him. I don't hate homosexuals, but I do hate indoctrination. I don't hate Math, but my kids need free time.
I don't indoctrinate my kids myself, but let them learn as they grow, for now I tell him he has to think about family values before he acts.

I also have seen men telling their wives that the house color must be changed, or the house must be rearranged. The house is for the woman to feel good, so as long as she doesn't turns the house in a circus or a trash lot, I don't care.
And so on and on.

What defines a Christian? Is it going to Church? Crossing yourself when you pass one? Being Baptized?
By baptism people think themselves Christians but by practice, that's where we are found wanting.
Why?
When we are under the same Church why do some Christians elevate themselves (not for their sake) worthy of the title 'Christian' but others mar the name? It's because we can choose. Religion, particularly (but not limited to) Christianity is about choosing right over wrong; God gave Adam and Eve the freedom to choose, Jesus asked gentiles and Jews to choose to follow His way or not. The Church can set guidelines, rules, catechisms or what not but we have the freedom to follow them or otherwise.
Being called a Christian is easy but earning the name is the challenge. So it comes down to choice to be a Mother Teresa or an Adolf Hitler, in the end we will be accountable for our actions.

We are all sinners regardless of our beliefs and religious associations. Evil lurks in all corners of this world and is found in the hearts of men and women alike, be they Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Pagans, Atheists, or what have you.

Evil manifests itself in the form of Hatred, Lust, Greed, Envy, Price, or Malice.

Can a Christian be evil? Most certainly, yes. So can ANYONE else.

Peace be with you.

A person could claim to be a Christian and still be evil.

We can not cease to sin at all. If we acknowledge our sins, God being faithful forgives us. It is not in this way concerning crimes. No one has the right to hide criminals from punishment according to the law. I can not agree that Hitler was a christian. Not everyone who calls himself a Christian is such in reality. Who don't follow what is written in the Gospel is not a Christian. It is also in this way with communists for example. Ctalin was not communist, he was cruel dictator. He did not follow communist principles and many communist rulers were as feudal lords. So it is not enough to call yourself a Christian to be accepted by God, but people must not devise there own rules to sort out people. All the rules is written in the Gospel.

Of course you can

It is not because you are Christian you have found the way of a good life

It are not only Christians who can find this way either

If you believe in God you must believe in the opposite of God.
God made everything in 2 pairs
Male Female
Ying Yang
Good Bad
and continue

God is the good
Satan is the bad / evil

So a christian who believes in God believes in Satan
And people who believe more in Satan then in God are still Christian but they can also be evil

Yes there are a whole family of evil Christians down the road from me. Their kids toment all the other kids and they even broke my sons nose and stole his money right infront of me. The mother and the father can't admit their Christian Church going kids are acting that way and that everyone is imagining their bad behaviour because most of the rest of us in the neighbourhood aren't Church going people. Can't stand it when they use their religion as a reason why their kids couldn't have done any of the horrible evil stuff they do.
