You need a good camera and to shoot your painting in exterior with daylight (when possible), a good scanner, and a bit of skilled work on Photoshop (color adjustment, sharpness, etc).

You are looking for a company like Que Imaging in Houston Texas(713-781-8090) or Harvest Productions in L.A. These companies have what is called Cruise Scanners or huge flat bed scanners and the capacity to print out your poster for you also. You will get a CD of the scan for your files (ask for two) and this will be the most accurate leading edge way art pros make reproductions of the work. Expect to pay between $ 50 and $150 for the scan depending on the size of your original art work.
Some artists work from a 6 mg camera and good lighting but I don't think you get anywhere near the results. If you take it to a professional photographer, they can make an 8x10 transparency also, but this still has to be scanned and is the way stuff was done in the 1980s.

Another way to go is to take your art to a blueprinting place. They have large scanners and printers. They will scan in your painting (only after it's completely dry) then they will experiment with the color until you approve it, then they will print out a final copy. They may also be able to scan the art to a DVD or CD so you can do your own adjustments in PhotoShop.
