Unfortunately, the most useful and endangered plants for developing new medications are those that we don't yet know are useful. As many as half of all medications have been developed from natural sources. That is why it is so important to preserve as many species of plants as we can right now--many, many will likely go extinct over the next several decades.

So the answer is there are many, and we don't necessarily know what they are right now. For every one plant with a known use, there may be hundreds that we are not aware of, and many of these are endangered. Their potential to cure all sorts of different diseases is immense and unexplored.

If we knew what they were someone would be investing a lot of money in conserving them. The problem is that the vast majority of plant species have not been researched.
