a huge number of people seem to feel that 'correct' english & spelling is not important ... sadly their teachers must have felt the same.
you see the same thing with bring/brought and buy/bought. and don't even start me on the number of people who seem to think the word 'me' is somehow obscene!! they'll say:
the dinner was enjoyed by my friend and I.
if only they'd THINK before using words - in that example, just remove the words 'my friend' and you can immediately see it should be the dinner was enjoyed by me (and my friend...)
can't help it, although I do try. being passionate about the English language and loving what it can express, I almost hurt when it is not respected and valued.
is there a cure?!!!

Spelling correctly - like using correct punctuation is a dieing art. It is no longer taught in schools, what is picked up along the way is picked up.Corrections generally aren't made. Homophones are a complete mystery to most people as is the English language.
Don't let the b**ggers get you down!

It annoys me too....but not half as much as 'dis' 'dat' and 'der' etc. We are turning into a country of illiterates lol
Just a thought....wonder if the people who want to loose weight have 'loost' any and the people who want to 'lose' weight have 'lost' any....
Also we may have to contact the TV producers responsible for 'Lost' and inform them that due to popular demand they should change it to 'Loost' lol

It's odd isn't it? It seems it's spelled 'loose' more often than 'lose' on this site.

If you are going to be condescending, at least dignify your comments with some intelligence. You come on here with a petty gripe and get it completely wrong. How thick do you feel now?
