Two Words: Laser pointer. If you have the time, play with the laser pointer during the day or in early evening. Cats sleep 90% of the time to save up their energy to hunt for food. (in the wild at least) but the instinct is the same. naturally your cat is going to be hyperactive, unless you wear her out. Laser pointer, and also a stick with a feather or string or piece of fabric of some sorts, my cat goes nuts, and after about a 1/2 hour, hes out for the night. Good luck.

Don't listen to the insensitive people telling you to give her up. How many people can't even handle their own kids for goodness sake. Anyway, I don't remember hearing how old she was but when they are young they are very active. My cat did the same thing and my husband used to get so frustrated. Thank goodness she did grow out of it. Cause mine would howl to if I locked her out but with age she started to sleep with me. Try to get her to maybe sleep with you. If she is napping before you go to bed try your best to keep her up. Use string and I get them ferret balls that roll by themselves and try to keep her up until you go to sleep just like a child. If she is still young you probable won't be able to stop her and another cat would probable only make her more active. Some times they just have their own attitudes, just like us. I hate the night my husband loves the night. I guess some cats are the same. If it is really to bad try a vet and see if they can maybe give you something to calm her at night. Maybe she is like an A.D.D. child. LOL ! But seriously maybe they can perscribe something for her. Good luck Hang in there things will work out.

First, how old is the cat? Cats are usually more active the younger they are. Also, do you have a set schedule? I have a very active cat and when I change my schedule, he usually becomes a pain. Playing when I want to sleep and so on. If you schedule fluctuates often, it may throw the cat off balance. Trying to keep the cat to a schedule may help. Animals are very much like children and should be on a set schedule.

My advice is keep a schedule, be consistant, and talk nice to them! No yelling, no cussing and maybe your cat will behave a little better!

Our cats have been trained from birth and they behave most of the time. They are indoor/outdoor and use a doggy door. (Two weeks to train them: 1.Push them out the doggy door & let them in normally, 2. Push them out & use your foot to open it to let them in, 3. open with your foot to let them in & out 4. they finally get it!) We call the cats in at 9:30 pm every night and give them a little tuna, (they show up on there own after a couple of weeks). They are petted, talked to & brushed and put to bed at 11:00 pm every night. We let them out at about 8am every morning and change there food and water. They are all told good morning, petted, and off they go. Patience and training!

Looks to me like you have an outdoor kitty:) Happened to me too. I got a tom cat from the humane society and I had him neutered and he was not my first cat, but darn I could not train him to become an inside cat. As soon as I saw the light and let him outside on a regular basis my fierce tiger became an affectionate, happy cat.

Maybe if you keep her really busy during the day, she'll be so tired she'll sleep at night? My cat sleeps almost all the time, and comes out to play in the evenings, or when she wants attention. But she sleeps in her favorite spot or with me or my husband.

Good luck

How often do you interact with your cat?

If you just shut her out, and you don't have any kind of interaction with her at all (petting, playing, letting her sit in your lap, etc.) then she probably is suffering from insufficiant socializing.

That's even more the case if you don't interact with her /and/ you're unable to get another cat. She obviously feels the need to see someone, and she wants to see you when you're around/not doing something.

If she is a young cat she will eventually calm down. You didn't mention if she is spayed or not. If not.please do it. This will help. If she is able to sleep on your bed this might comfort her. Just lay a towel down or try a cat bed on your bed.
Hope these suggestions help.

The cat sounds annoyed or may be it's ill. Take her to the vet and/or check out this site: thepetshow.com.
