in science class, there was a assignment about the new Beverly Hills Diet, written by Judy Mazel. is it healthy or effective to eat fruit first up in the morning and when you eat another fruit, you have to wait for an hour before you can eat another type of fruit again.
(answer this question if you can: is it healthy to follow the plan?)

The "plan" doesnt make any sense!
You can eat any fruit at any time you want - they are better to eat in the morning because that is the part of the day you need carbs the most. Fructose is pretty hard to digest though so dont eat more than 4 servings of fruit a day and not more than 2 at once.

All Types Of Fruit

I'm a Type 2 diabetic. My diet is very simple: I limit all carbohydrates. While restricting your sugar intake is important, you must remember that sugar is only one type of carbohydrate. ALL carbohydrates will raise your blood sugar, some more than others. Protein tends to raise blood sugar less and more slowly and pure fat doesn't raise blood sugar at all. Foods that are higher in carbohydrates are grains, corn, rice, beans, potatoes, and fruit. Diabetics all have different carbohydrate tolerances, treatments, and goals, so my carbohydrate target and yours may not be the same. I am trying to lose weight, so I follow a VERY strict diet - no more than 30 grams of carbohydrate per day. Many diabetics do well on 50-100 grams per day. Most diabetic organizations, dietitians, and nutritionists recommend far too many carbohydrates for diabetics, around 45 grams to 60 grams per MEAL. Frankly, that's insanity, and I don't know many Type 2s who could eat that way without having high blood sugar. Your first step should be buying a glucose meter. There's just no better way to plan your meals than glucose testing at home. A meter will give you instant feedback about your choices in a way that a blood sugar test every three months just won't. The AACE recommends diabetics fast below 110 mg/dL and stay below 140 mg/dL 1-2 hours after a meal. If you can stay within those targets, then you know your diet is working. If you can't, then you should adjust food choices and portions until you do fall within that range. If no amount of dieting can get you there, then you need to talk to your doctor about a medication adjustment. Experiment with your food. There's no harm in seeing what works and what doesn't. If you're skeptical about the low-carbohydrate diet, try going high carbohydrate for a few days and then low carbohydrate. Which gives you better numbers? You'll learn from testing that the number of carbohydrates sometimes matters less than the type. Maybe potatoes spike you, but beans don't. Maybe certain types of fruit impact your blood sugar very little, while others raise your BG considerably. I've learned from testing that grains do not like me and so I avoid them like the plague. High cholesterol and high blood sugar often go hand in hand. Although some people can never control cholesterol without medication, diabetics usually see a tremendous drop in LDL simply from getting blood sugar under control. Heart disease is a serious concern for Type 2 diabetics, but nothing will give you heart disease faster than uncontrolled blood sugar. Focus on the blood sugar and then get your cholesterol and triglycerides checked. At that point, if your numbers are still too high, discuss if statins are a good choice for you.

of course it's not bad to eat different types of fruits together.. how about when you eat a fruit salad? you eat several types of fruits all at once.. maybe it is indicated in the book that you to eat fruits after on hour becuase its part of their meal plan.. and it is healthy to follow the plan because you'll be eating nutritious foods.

I often eat more than one fruit together. Heck, I have a fruit salad & have 6 different fruits - never known any problems with it. Did your science class explain why it was not good for you?

No, but I hear you shouldn't eat fruit with vegetables. Check out the Fat Flush Plan.

What about "fruit salad"? I can't think of any fruit that would be unhealthy if eaten together. It sounds ridiculous.
