Unfortunately the real loser in war are the civilians. Pray, have hope and faith and get as far away from the fighting as you can. Millions of people are displaced by war. Usually there will be camps or the Red Cross to help out. The camps may not be the best but they are usually safer and have some type of food and health care. War is cruel to the common man. Good Luck and God Bless You!!!

The usual solution is either to evacuate the combat area, or (if not possible) learn to live under these conditions
As an example- in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising (62 days of combat) evacuation was not possible and almost 250 000 civilians died in the fighting
If under occupation, adapt. A good option is to provide some services to the local community or even the occupiers - be it a fast food stand, health care centre or a laundry. Anything which provides a living.
If you live in a potential combat area, what one can do is prepare- have several stockpiles of non-perishable food, several hides/ shelters, several sources of drinking water. Weapons are a good thing to have but _not_ to advertise, and to be used ONLY in the most extreme emergency
Best of all, emigrate. But that is not always an option.

The same way we survived the german Blitz and all the air raids. The rationing the homeless etc. One thing this generation will never have to experience is air raids which involed up to 100 enemy planes. Thousands of tons of bombs dropped on your town. You sat in a shelter and just prayed that you will live through it. Luckily, we did, but the aftermath was just as bad. Bodies blown to bits in the streets.Cemetries blown apart. Factories blown away, and the huge fires everywhere. By the time these fires were put out, the bombers would be back for another raid and again you prayed.

This is something I have thought about and come up with:
1. Become self sufficient. Learn how to preserve food. Canning and dehydrating. Also, learn about gardening. Veggies and fruits. Making candles. All this can be found on web sites.
2. Start stockpiling canned goods, veggies, fruits and meats. Water is the most important. but keep in mind, water can go bad also. Rotate it every couple of weeks to keep fresh water on hand. Boiling any water after the do-do hits the fan is advisable. Read up on the best way to store these items for longer shelf life.
3. First aid kit. A good one that includes bandages, ointments, tape, scissors, needles and thread, aspirin, splints, rubbing alcohol and peroxide. Bleach, soap hand and laundry.
4. Utensils, etc: pots and pans, a camping cook stove, fuel for the stove, knives, forks, spoons, water proof matches (you can make your own by dipping the tips in melted wax). zip lock bags, large heavy duty garbage bags, baby wipes.
5. Tarp: A few tarps will always come in handy (vary the sizes) for shelter if you get displaced, protect supplies from the weather. Include 550 cord or a heavy twine, bungee cords of different lengths.
6. Clothing: Go to the Savation Army stores or Goodwill and buy inexpensive clothing for storage. Jackets, pants, shirts, footwear.
(if it gets to this point, fashion is not going to be an object).
7. Money: Invest in gold and silver jewelry, and put it aside for bartering. Money will lose its value.
8. Tools: A good bow saw with a couple extra blades, hammer, nails, axe (small and large) splitting wedge, a maul, hand drill with bits.
9. Transportation: Bikes with towing carts. Forget gasoline. Save your money. Buy a couple of extra tires, tubes, and patch kits. You can look for rationing to kick in.
10. Weapons: A couple of guns: a 22 caliber rifle for smaller game, a shotgun for birds and home protection, a 30.30 for larger game, and a handgun, also for home protection. Keep it to yourself about having them. A supply of ammunition, of course.
10. Living location: Small town. If you work in a big city and can change your job great, if not, then the commute would be worth it to help keep your family safe. Small town, small target.
I know this is lenghty, and incomplete, but just some things to think about. Hope the time never comes to where it will be tested.

It's a sad thing to say , but war is an act , to distroy one enemies armed forces , as well as to inflict death to the civillians
Now it seems , someone decided to change the rules , but there are only a few that count , the aim of a war is to beat your enemy at what ever cost to them , as to win

City folks? Unless your IQ is above 170, submit. Country folks can do a lot better, having resources near at hand.
