I was in Tasmania on holiday recently, and I visited a shop called 'Fish Frenzy' in Burnie on the North west coast. I had the best fish n chips ever in my life, and I have travelled throughout Australia and the Pacific extensively, I also used to own a fish n chip shop and I have never had Fish n chips as good as this. Fresh, and beautifully presented. Enjoy...

As tentofield said - there is not such thing as the "best" fish and chips" - as in "shop" but if you are asking for "the BEST spot to have the fish and chips" then it has to be Manly beach.
There is a little fish and chips shop on the Corso about a step away from beach. To be sitting on Manly beach eating fish and chips is just SOOOO Australian!

Cicerello's on the Fremantle Esplanade in Wa is pretty good. As it the shop next to it...I think it was called Joes (went there a few weeks ago and it was great food, great price but can't think of the name!

I also used to live in Exmouth Wa...a fishing town and the fish and chips there are pretty darn good...especially the ones my hubby would make after going out and catching fresh fish himself..Yummo, best fish and chips I EVER had!

It's a fair way to drive but the area around Elizabeth Wharf in Hobart has/had some boats that were fish and chip shops. It was the best fish and chips I've had in Australia.

Akoroa (spelling?) in NZ (near Christchurch) is the best fush and chups I've ivver hed. Sux buts of fluthid thenks and munumum chups.

Brunswick Heads NSW is good but there is no such thing as the "best" fish and chips. If the oil is clean, if the fish is fresh and the fish and chips are properly cooked (not overcooked) then one place is as good as another. I have had excellent fish and chips all over Australia.

The Pacific ocean or the Manning river is the best spot for fish and Tasmania is the best place for chips.

Watson's Bay
Watsons Bay attracts visitors and locals alike thanks to its unique blend of secluded beaches, spectacular coastal walks, historic charm and waterfront restaurants.

Appreciate Watsons Bay's wonderful views and colonial connections by walking from the village to South Head. The walk takes in the Sydney Harbour National Park, passes Lady Jane Beach - clothing optional, and continues to Hornby Lighthouse. You'll discover Camp Cove, the spot where the First Fleet landed in Sydney Harbour. You'll see Watsons Bay's most breathtaking vistas are at The Gap - site of where Sydney's worst maritime tragedy occurred when the Dunbar was shipwrecked in 1857.

By the time you've finish walking, you're bound to have built up an appetite. Watsons Bay has a reputation for being the place to indulge in a long lunch and a cool beer. Naturally, seafood is a specialty of Australia's oldest fishing village, and you'll find dining options catering for a range of budgets.
