We are from the Central Coast in Cali...looking to move somewhere that is actually AffOrdAble. As much as we love the area and have been spoiled with the weather here growing up so far... cost of housing is ridiculous!!! We have been looking into Austin, Tx area, but I'd like to know if anybody else knows of places (or lives anywhere) where housing is also AS AFFORDABLE as Texas? (new 4BR homes for about $200k! we could have a mansion there! lol). We are not willing to be on the east coast, too far from family in Cali, also, no areas that rain alllll the time (Wa & Or), but possibly Az? Nv? Nm? I don't know... Don't like the scOrchinG hot weather either!!! Sorry so picky, but please help! Also we would obivously need an area suitable for raising our son.. safe, pretty, employment opportunities for mom and dad, etc. Any help would be appreciated! TIA :]

There are several areas of Texas that our friends looked at. Homes for 80- 100 thous would be massive and on land!
We live in AZ. Yes it is hot and can get very cold. Depends on where you live. We have tried to sell our house so that we could move to Show Low AZ which is like living in Yosemite!
Thats where I spent 20 yrs! You really need to take a family trip and check out some of these places. It isnt always what it seems by looking at photos or reading about it! AZ seems very affordable to us, but of course the home values dont seem to me to be comparable to some of the places in Texas. And you have to consider what types of jobs are available and really do research on the schools, crime rate, doctors, hospitals etc. We enjoyed Carson City NV,
Minden NV, and even Las Vegas (south side). But Vegas is going up & up in housing costs and I dont know about the otherplaces now. What kind of work do you do? Good Luck!

Take a look at the St Louis area ( St Charles County in particular) We moved up here a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. Very low cost of living, affordable housing, and an excellent job market. Great place to raise kids.. safe, good school systems, and they get to enjoy all four seasons. And, St Louis offers a lot more as far as entertainment than you'd think..Sports teams, best zoo in the country, museums, good restaurants,etc... Oh, and flights out are usually pretty cheap and without connections to the west coast.

This sounds outstanding, yet some places in Montana could be what you're searching for. I stay in Bozeman, and "the community" right here, inspite of the partying college little ones, is large whilst in comparison with different places i've got lived. There are various prominent companies owned by skill of gay or lesbian Bozemanites and their companions. i does not be too open interior the smaller cities, yet in Bozeman you're superb. i've got been affectionate in direction of my female chum in a great form of public places and in no way had a topic. the faculties indexed right here are superb, a great form of community activities, a great form of exterior activities (fantastically snowboarding), the interest industry is solid for many professions. even though, the cost of living is somewhat intense, regularly interior the lease/own loan section and it receives incredibly chilly interior the lifeless of iciness. Missoula is somewhat extra gay-friendly, yet i individually do no longer comprehend lots related to the city itself. They the two have approximately 40,000-ish human beings. wish that facilitates!
