Nearly everyday there is a post on here about how awful pitbulls are. Yet I cannot recall a single question on here about a pitbull attack or bite, BUT just off the top of my head I can think of questions in the last few days about dog bites involving the following:
greyhound
dalmation
Jack Russel
German Shepherd
Chow
Chihuahiua
Miniature Pinscher
just to name a few.
Do you find this interesting??

The lack of problem pitbull questions speaks for itself. Obviously they are not the threat people make them out to be. I saw on the news the other day where they were talking about a pitbull attack. They showed a picture of the "pitbull" and it was clearly a Rott mix.
So sad. Hopefully people will wise up before they are banned everywhere.

NICE!!!

I have had bloody fighting pits dumped on my porch - did not like the other dogs barking but never showed a tooth to me even as I move them around and lay them down to clean their wounds.

I have had a couple of vicous labs lunging to bite is vicious. A great dane that could not function a lhasa that bit everyone and anyone. A fluffy cute golden mix that lunged at my daughter then about ten years old.

Right now we have a min pin that attacks anyone but who it attaches to.

We can't take pits into the program but when I come across one that is so good it can't be euthanized (does well with my animals me kids and cats) the program will pay for vetting and I place them with people I know.

i find it not only interesting but somewhat vidicating as well. I have a pitbull, and i have never been afraid he was going to attack anyone, let alone me or my family. People constantly try to find reasons or examples to go against pits, but its kinda hard when the facts say something entirely different.

edit--just another example of ignorance in the answer below mine that says that pitbulls kill people. Pitbulls will get a better reputation only when moronic sterotypes are proven wrong once and for all. I highly doubt that person has ever known anyone killed by a pitbull, they're just another one of those simple minds being told what to think by the media. Get a clue and do some actual research. Furthermore, pits were bred to be DOG aggressive, not human aggressive. And not every pitbull is like that. If they were, why would vick be accused of killing dogs bc they wouldnt fight?

Did you know that people who work with dogs all the time, walkers, vets, groomers, trainers and the like, have stated that they have less troble with pit bulls than any other breed. Most have never even been snap at by a pit and most would rather work on a pit than some of the other smaller breeds. There are well over 5 million pit bulls in this country. If they were as bad as they are ade out to be there would hundreds of attacks everyday and way more than 3 deaths. More people get killed by deers than all dog breeds put together. More people are killed by cows. Last year 25 people were killed by gators

The Media looks for the most unbelievable, the worst in the news to report.

I'm sure there have been incidents where each and every dog that you have mentioned the breed itself has been involved in an attack incident at one time or another, but how many Chihuahua's have you known that have actually killed someone? Not many if any.

I have nothing against Pitbull Terrior ~ I don't care for the breed so I don't own any, merely personal preference...

Doesn't surprise me a bit, I have owned 4 pits and not one of them had a mean bone in their body! Though in my 5 years of grooming dogs I have been bit by just about every breed of dog, mostly small breeds, but never a pit, pit mix or any pit type dog. People just need to learn that it has nothing to do with the breed of the dog but the way PEOPLE treat the dog. Dogs are not mean by nature, PEOPLE make dogs mean. AND if ANYONE wants to debate this with me, feel free to email me!!!

Just a added note. I have see MANY dogs that have bitten on the news that the reproter said they where pit bulls and most where not pit of any kind. One that happened in California was reported as "three pit bulls kill child" the dogs that killed the child where shown on the news a bit later. Two of the dogs where labs and one was a lab chow mix. This was later comfermed by a vet. But ODDLY was not ever reported on the news. I found out via phone calls to the news station and to the vet that put the dogs down.

That is ignorance. That is what it is. Pitbulls are harmless. The people who make them fight with each other has given a bad name to those dogs by using dogs' strength. If people only watch Dog Whisperer in National Geographic channel then they could see how nicely behaving and calm dogs they are. Those people who give them bad name deserve the worst of everything. They make me sick and ashamed of being a human. They are the best with kids and kittens. Most of the celebrities have pitbulls. They have the heart of an angel like most of other dogs.

Actually, I find it sad. It says a lot about the stupidity of most Americans. Americans nowadays are mostly sheep, they don't bother to think things through before they develop what I'm sure they believe are their own opinions on things. How can you form an opinion on something, if you don't bother to learn about it? Before you think I am down on America, I'm not, I am American, I just think we need to wake up and stop taking everything for granted and be part of the answer instead of waiting for the government to do something all of the time because that just leads to our rights being taken away. It's sad...but at the same time it pisses me off. I get a lot of people that come up to me because they want a big dog that is well behaved and won't bite their kids when their kids are behaving like monsters. My dog fits that description, so they want one and I have to talk these people out of getting a dog like mine because I KNOW 99.9%of them won't have the time or the dedication to be able to handle an LGD because they can't even seem to handle their kids.(Anyone that owns a large, well-trained working/guardian breed knows what kind of people I'm talking about.) People don't realize dog's don't come fully trained, it wasn't I got her at 7.5 weeks, stuck some miracle grow on her and voila! she's what you see today. Dogs are work and some dogs are a lot more work than others. Unfortunately, most Americans don't stop to think about that nowadays because "if it doesn't work out, we can always get rid of it." So when it becomes too much work, they get rid of it and get a little dog who they don't really have to train because if it does bite, who is it really going to hurt? Our whole freakin' society is a disposable wasteland and people wonder why we have to kill so many pets each year....there you go.

Personally, I like pitbulls. My St. Bernard grew up playing with two pitbulls and we never had any problems. It's not the dog, IT's THE OWNER!

On the other hand, two greyhounds attacked my kitten, Mr. Bigglesworth (please, no comment on the name, it was my brother's choice) and slashed open his femerol artery. So, I can't stand Greyhounds. And of the three Weimeriners (spelling?) all three were evil SOBs who tried to eat everything in sight be it a human, their dog, or a tree.

I think the media's found something that gets attention- pit bull attacks- so they're milking it for all it's worth. People are gullible to believe everything they see on TV or read in the paper. The sensationalism of a dog attack, especially a pit bull, sells. That's why you don't hear about Chihuahua attacks. Those kind of stories don't sell.

this is because as a whole people are taught that pits are bad and thus are only shown the bad side even though they bite no more or no less than other breeds.

Personal view is that those little yappy dogs get their names of being ankle biters for a reason.
