When I had my very first cat spayed I had the same problems. The daze thing will wear off soon. So, that's okay. The licking the sutures is what you have to be careful of as you don't want that incision to open up and get infected. It's more painful for them to go threw this than the regular healing time.
If you can get a white sock, preferably one that will go from behind her front legs down to her hind legs. Cut the foot part off and put it on her, like a girdle type thing. It will prevent her from licking the sutures and making herself more sore. It will also hold in her tummy muscles too. Or, you could try a collar, make one of your own and make her wear it until the sutures are out. Don't take it off either, she will be able to function with it on. I put a link below that shows directions on how to make a collar. It's simple to do and won't cost hardly anything.
Here is the link:

I hope this helps and I hope kitty feels better soon!

It's natural for a cat to lick and clean any injury so for your cat to lick it's stitches is normal. You do want to minimize the amount of licking it does in case it aggravates the stitches or the wound itself. A elizabethan collar (or e-collar as one person called it) is one way that will keep your cat from gnawing and licking the incision. While you can buy one from the vet, you can also make a temporary one at home if you have some posterboard or cardboard. Go to http://www.petplace.com/cats/elizabethan-collars-for-cats-e-collars/page1.aspx and check out the directions. Cats (or any animal) does better with the commercial ones that are clear so that they can see thru the collar but this could help you and the cat get thru the night at least.
Depending on what type of anesthesia used by your vet on your cats operation it may take a while for the effects to completely wear off and your cat may be a bit 'dazed' for a while. No worries about that unless it's like 12 hours after and the cat is still bumping into furniture. anesthesia affects cats in different ways - even different breeds in different ways, so keep an eye on her. I like to fix a heating pad with a towel or a blanket over it and put it on a low setting and let them lay on it - sometimes also letting them stay in a crate as it's 'cave like' and they feel more secure in a dark place. This will depend on your kitty tho and how she feels. Just judge by what you know of your own kitty and see if it feels right.
As far as whether it was wrong to do the abortion, it would have probably been better to have had her spayed and not allowed her to ever get pregnant in the first place, but what is done is done. Just be aware that she will still have the hormones going thru her system and it will take a while (depending on how far along she was) for her body to return to a non-pregnant state. I do hope that you had her spayed at the same time? It would have been the only logical thing to have done, especially as you don't seem to want to have litters of kittens!!
Good luck with your kitty - I hope she is already beginning to come round and feel better. Oh, almost forgot - another thing you can try is to put the top of a large sock around her belly (cut the bottom half of the sock off and just use the stretchy top) and kind of use it as a large 'bandaid' over her incision and that might help to keep her from licking too.

There is an over population of stray cats you should have had your cat fixed first not waited tell it got pregnant. So yea you were wrong in my opinion.
Listen to your vet. Not all these crazies out on the internet. If it was me I would watch it over night and make sure non of the stitches come loose. If they do or redness that is beound expectation's starts to forum then call your vet back. They should have an emergency line to reach someone.
I hope your cat recovers well from its surgery. I also hope you learn to fix your pets before they get Prego.

well, you cat probably is traumatized after the procedure it is just, to me it seems, a natural way, of healing.... My dog did that to it's paw the other day when it was cut. To me it was small but to her it was another matter and licked it until she was happy with herself...
Just pay attention to the stitches... If it doesn't seem to be working your cat may need a second opinion

She should be fine. She's just a little goofy from the aftereffects of the anesthesia.And,11.00 is nothing! My vet charges 30.00 for an office call, but she doesn't charge anything for surgery aftercare. And,no,you weren't wrong to do the spay. There are just too many kittens! It was far kinder to kill them this way;they would have just gone to sleep in the uterus from the anesthesia, and then quickly suffocated, while still unconscious, after it was removed. If you had let them be born, they might have ended up in a shelter, maybe living for 8 weeks and then being killed anyway. You did the right thing.

If you're wrong about that descision is up to you.
You should get one of those neck funnels they give animals that have surgury. She might tear out the stiches if she keeps licking them.
Edit: Just read your addition. If you're complaining about having to spend $11 on your cat to make sure she's alrght I'm not sure you completely understand pet ownership.
Vets have to pay for what they use in their offices- we had to pay $450 to get IVs and blood tests run on one of our cats to make sure they didn't have a communicable diesease. It was worth it because it allowed us to make sure our other cat was safe.
Seriously, the health of your pet should be worth more than an additional $11 fee. :|

The collar you need is called an e-collar. Most vets have them, and your vet should have given you one. You can go back and get one.
