like in movies or music videos where the closer things are in focus and the things further away are blurry then the closer things become blurry and the further things become in focus

are you talking about a "focus pull", a common technique in TV and Movies?

if so then the camera operator gets the 1st camera assistant to do the focus pull while the operator follows the action.

You move the depth of field. Usually you first make the depth of field shallow by opening up the lens (toward f/2 or less) and increasing the shutter speed to keep the exposure the same.
Then, if you are doing it professionally, you measure the distance to the two areas you want in focus and mark the lens for the two points. Then as you shoot, you change the focus and the shallow depth of field takes care of the blurriness.

you have to switch to manual focus.. zoom on the object you want clear. spin the focus dial until its clear, the background will blur by itself..... and btw u dont take a video, u make it :P

play with the focus dial... ull get it ur self...and if there is no dial, look for the option in the menu, if it doesnt exisit.. get a new cam :D
