my boyfriends family is overly dysfunctional. his brother yells, throws objects, and there is no respect between them. the mother usually sides with the brother and therefore my boyfriend always feels hatred towards her. the father butts out and acts like nothing happens. my question is..if someone is brought up in a home filled with disrespect for one another and fighting, do you think this will be the case when my boyfriend has a place of his own ??
(or when we get married?)

Make sure you have a long engagement so you know how he reacts to everything.

He will have a tendency to act out in the way he was brought up. However, if he's a sensitive, caring person, he'll be aware of it and can work to develop new and healthy habits. You should talk to him about your concerns. If he's open to discuss it, and admits there is a problem in his family, then you're halfway home with fixing it. If he refuses to talk about it, or pretends there is nothing wrong at home, then you have a problem on your hands. Good luck!

sounds like my inlaws, but that dosnt necacerally mean the guy is going to end up likethat, Im married to a guy, that lived intaht crap, & got out, hes NOTHING like his family. He hated that life, & wanted a peacful life, not a drama class life. Too much soap opera life I think.

I would wait until he is out on his own, and see how he handles life anway from the nut house before making any commitments.

My advice: don't add to the dysfunction by giving your boyfriend excuses to hate. It will backfire on you.

Get out of the relationship. Believe me, you will regret staying in it. What a mess.
