Yes - eating 5-6 small meals a day is the best for your metabolism - that way your body gets enough calories when it needs them and doesnt have any extra left to store in fat reserves, also keeps your blood sugar more stable.
If e.g. you need 1800cal/day- thats 300cal/meal 6 meals a day - so i would have about 450cal breakfast (its the most important meal of the day), then 250cal snack, 400cal lunch, 200cal snack, 350cal dinner and 150cal snack.

Eating 5 small meals as opposed to 3 large meals is recommended for dieting because every time you eat something your metabolism starts up. Also, if you go too long without eating (more than 5 hours), you are much more likely to overeat when you do eat. Try eating a small balanced meal with small portions. For example, 1 egg with a little bit of reduced-fat cheese sprinkled on it, 1 serving of fresh fruit and 1 piece of whole wheat toast with sugar-free jelly would make a great light breakfast or lunch. For dinner, you could have a 4 oz. serving of grilled chicken with a 1/2 cup of brown rice and 1 serving of steamed vegetables. I hope this helps!

Well, eating often is really good. Because the bloodsugar level in your body is constant so you never become overly hungry. If you eat constantly, whenever you feel hunger ebbing just to get the hunger to go away, you'll actually eat less in a day. Snacking constantly keeps blood sugar at a constant, which is a good thing. There are no set numbers or frequencies, just eating often is good. I'm sure however, there are numerous diets and other things for guides you could find on the internet.

Depends on what you eat. If you eat chips and cookies, soda, generally grazing the junk food aisle, you'll just get fat. If you parcel out a well-balanced diet throughout the day--make sure your mini meals include your daily ration of veggies, fruits, dairy, protein--and NO MORE than your daily ration of fats and sugars, then fine.
Should be 6 regularly spaced meals. Food should be low fat. Eat most of your calories before 5:00; don't eat anything at all after 8 p.m. Exercise speeds of weight loss, if that is what you are after. So does sufficient water intake.

Instead of 3 big meals - breakfast, lunch and tea/dinner/supper (whatever you call it) - you should eat 6 smaller meals during the day at more regular intervals, stops you feeling hungry and eating too much in 1 sitting.

Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy. Brisk walking is great for burning body fats.
It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as my experience, meals, snacks, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc,
