what would it mean if you called me almost every other day and we talked on the phone each time for hours? Why don't you just ask me out?

To shy to ask you out. He is afraid that you would reject him. He may think you only see him as a friend and that's all. You should tell him in a round about way you like him and make him feel more comfortable with you. It seems obvious he likes you.

some guys like this are afraid of what youll say
so maybe before you get off the phone with him you could say i love you that would help him know
And sometimes they dont know how to say it
some guys just dont wanna say do you wanna go out with me...they think youre to good for that
And the last thing may be that he wants to ask you out in person but is too afraid
so try hanging out with him sometimes so he can feel more comfortable around you...if he asks to talk to you alone he might be asking you out

i would say he's really shy or he just knows that your somebody he can tell anything to and thinks of you more as a bestfriend than a girlfriend i wouldn't ask him out i would just wait or try and find out if he likes you he might just think your a really good friend

it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
just because you chat for hours doesn't mean he has any intention of anything more than friendship.
if he wants you, he'll persue you - i.e. he does whatever it takes to get you and won't take no for an answer.
