That is a good point that many fail to acknowledge. You choose not to believe. That choice has been recorded.

Why exactly do you want to believe in something you don't already currently believe in? What do you feel is missing in your life that such a belief would fill? If you can answer those questions it may help you find what you are looking for.
If you feel that you can disprove the notion of god (note the small 'g' I'm not talking Yahweh here, I mean ANY god) then how can there be a higher power that you can effectively believe in?
I suppose you could do some research into buddhism as buddhism has no 'god' in the traditional sense, just a belief in the universe. However you will probably have a problem with the notion of reincarnation.
It would seem you have asked an impossible question given that given that you have precluded any possible answer by excluding the notion of a higher power. I can only suggest a belief in Science or Rationality. Incidentally what is in it for you to dissuade a nun of her beliefs? One should never mock or attack the beliefs of others, unless they are causing active harm to another group or individual, which is why, although correct in many respects, Richard Dawkins is an absolute prat.

I believe that all things are connected. I feel an energy in the earth, in the world around me, and believe it ties everyone and everything together. This can be taken on a very spiritual religious level, or very basic...everything is connected no faith even needed for that...I myself lean a bit more towards the spiritual side of the spectrum.
I believe that the truths of the world will find me when the time is right, and until then I'll just do the best I can.

There is no short answer to this question that has been asked since time began. And the path to your personal belief will be as long as your life itself.
Take some time to look at other belief systems. For instance, in most shaman societies, there are no gods. There are spirits of greater and lessor power. The spirits inhabit all living things - whether they be people, animals or plants. The "village shaman" has the job of relating to the spirits for the good of the village. You yourself do not have to be a shaman to believe that all living things have a spirit of some degree.
I recently held my dog as he died. There was no doubt in my mind that my dog has a soul, just I do. I refuse to believe that I cease to exist once my body does. I refuse just as strongly that my dog's soul ceased to exist when the life passed out of his eyes.
Is my dog (or myself) a great spirit? Probably not.
The only possible answer to your question lies inside of you. You may choose to believe anything, but the answer is already there waiting for you to see it.

I wrote a great answer for your last question and the question was deleted before you got a chance to read it!!!
Whether or not you choose to believe in God, doesn't change who He is and what He has done for us.
Christ died to pay the penalty for sin. He is the only way to eternal life with God in heaven.
All Bible prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate. Nothing else can beat that. Nothing.
Believe in God - give Jesus Christ a chance, He shed His precious blood on the cross so you would have something to believe in!
You don't have to "be religious" to have faith in God. God doens't like "religiosity". He wants us to genuinely repent from sinning and follow Christ. You know, do things like love one another, take care of widows and orphans, etc..... It's not such a bad thing.
email me if you want to chat about God & Jesus and heaven and hell.

You can believe that a moral(compassionate, honest, loving) life leads to happiness and an immoral(cruel, dishonest, jealous) life does not.
You can believe in the value of family.
You can believe in the beauty of nature, women(or men), music and art.
You can believe in the value of compassion, wisdom, science, philosophy, education, love, and all sorts of things.
Are you looking for some sort of supernatural belief though?
B/C I can't help you with that.

Believe in whatever you want, but either you believe in no god or a god. If you choose no god, then there's only one thing to believe, that you are an evolutionary creature, and have no purpose to your life what so ever, to live and die, that's all.

There are billions of things to believe in without ever becomeing religious. Pick something dear to you and believe in it.
Personally, I believe in common sense, personal responsibility, the beauty of a mountainside, my family and spouse.

The existence of our creator's universal gifts of life vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind for the creation of living human kind into mankind of intelligent design with success in worshiping God to be the Son of God on planet earth.
Look at the mess out there being created to be the Son of a dirty old man of failures and horrors of the past from the graveyards of different ghostly ancestor's custom in making a mess in own backyards without being aware of their own creation living in misery at loss and stranded and still look green out there.
Children !
Are you sure we don't want our creator's universal gifts of life?
Then keep on clinging on to the coconut trees.
The purpose of life is to find those gifts that was lost with time in finding our way back in worshiping God while getting our selves kick on the butts without being aware of it.
Luke 19.9-10
Ever wonder how a bunch of educated idiots got themselves kick on the butts by the dead Mummy in short-changing living human kind with ghostly stories of failures and horrors of the past in making a mess out there.
Luke 10.24
