I'm not a Christian, but my children have attended Bible school at the local Methodist church over the years. I remember going to their programs and after-school events. Occasionally, the pastor entertained the children with magic shows.

From what I saw, I don't think it would be considered a sin to most people.

Those are merely slight of hand tricks, though some are complicated and involved. Few magicians claim that any supernatural power was responsible for the feat--they get off on the crowd trying to figure out how they were able to do it within the bounds of reality.

If a magician ever called upon, or claimed to call upon, a supernatural power to perform tricks merely for their own gratification or glory, then that would be a sin. That is one of the tests of a genuine miracle in the Bible--does it glorify the magician / miracle worker, or does it glorify God?

The crisis is that the church has turn out to be liberal in its pondering and has watered down the gospel. The normal individual in these days does no longer relatively recognize the level of what Christ did for us. If they did then there could be a burning wish to proportion this well information with our peers and acquaintances. Many (customarily so much) "Christians" in these days are not able to categorical what they feel in. This is often as a result of a put up-modern-day tradition that believes in relative reality wherein you'll be able to feel what you feel and I can feel what I feel and each are similarly legitimate. This is a significant breech of common sense and traditional feel. Since they themselves do not know what they feel then how can they inform any individual else? Since they do not relatively feel in something in any respect, there is no such thing as a well information for them, so they have got no wish to inform anybody else. The church has visible a shift in the course of this time from being Christ-situated to being self-situated. There are plenty of "suppose well" sermons available in the market that instruct how God could make you wealthy and the way he could make you all you'll be able to be. This isn't the actual gospel. The actual gospel teaches our wickedness, our dependance on God and obedience to God. These aren't widespread subjects such a lot of pastors are leaving them out. The well information is that God continuously has a remnant. There are a few very well church buildings available in the market, despite the fact that NONE are ideal. Some of them are even gigantic, megachurches.

That type of "magic" doesn't seek to involve spiritual forces. It's a form of entertainment and isn't like sorcery or necromancy where the individual is trying to contact the spirit world to get supernatural power to perform their work. So, no, it's not a sin.

Are you talking illusions or magic? They are are very differant things! Illusions, heck yes man trick away and have fun with it! Magic has to do with The art that purports to control or forecast natural events, effects, or forces by invoking the supernatural. It can be a dangerouse route dealing with stuff like that. Draw your lines clearly on the Illusionist side and your cool! Have fun dude!

Magic tricks form books are not evil, it's like saying playing a pc game is evil, however, there are some other areas of "magic" that are evil, such as the occult, weigi boards, contacting the dead, these are evil, and are a sin, as stated in the bible

A trick is not supernatural.
The only condemned magic in the Bible was the story of King Saul. He asked for the dead spirit of Samuel to be brought to give him assurance before facing a battle.
His weakness, was not just asking for supernatural, but believing that anything of a dead spirit such as Samuel would come from anything but from powers of darkness.

Magic tricks are not black magic, they are entertainment. Whether it is sin or not is if you are letting your magician hobby dominate your whole life and it gets to be too important, just like any other activity that is not done in moderation.

i think in some cases it can be satanic. like chris angel. he actually believes he has powers. and that its in his mind. and he can do anything. but doing magic tricks like pulling a bunny out of a hat (if thats what kind of magic your talking about) is not satanic. its purely for entertainment. its only a sin when you believe your 'powers' are real.

*Not a Christian* but I understand what you mean. As long as it's for entertainment I believe it's alright, but when you use it to convince others that you are higher than God or equal, then it falls into the sin category. Just state your purpose up front, and I think you'll be ok.
