when they did die and faced God they would still talk themselves into believing they must be in a coma and dreaming or caught in some sort of twilight zone spending too much time on this site. Do you agree? I am a spiritual person and I can entertain the thought that just maybe there is no God, although I know different.

I agree with most of what you said. Except I'm not like John Lennon, I can't imagine that there's no God. Most unbelievers seem so proud that they would never admit they were wrong even if they met God face to face.

I can entertain the idea that there is a god. If confronted with facts I will just say, with my head held high, that I did the best I could with what I had. If that's not good enough for him then - touch toenails.

But, you say you know that there is a god - which one are you referring to? and how do you know the others are all myths?

I believe in science & until someone can come to me with hard physical evidence that I was created from the rib of some guy then I will continue to believe in science.

When I die I believe that I will be cremated & remembered by loved ones but I'm not too sure about the whole pearly gates & living my life on a fluffy cloud in paradise.

Each to their own though. If you want to believe in God or Allah or whoever then that is your call. I won't try to convince you to change your mind if you won't try to convince me to change mine!

I used to be atheist (yes atheists, I know, I'm a traitor to our kind) but after studing Wicca for the last 18 months I've decided that my beliefs no longer qualify me to lable myself that, but I still strongly dislike my former beliefs being put down like that. Give an atheist solid... I can see it, I can hear it, I can smell it, I can taste it, I can feel it... and they would believe, but until you can do that try re evaluating the way you put people down. Doesn't the Bible teach tollerance? Maybe you can read up a bit? Be like Jesus, not a jerk!

If when I die I come to face a deity I will simply say "I didn't think you existed... On to the penalty phase.."

I have always been one to face up to it when I am wrong no matter what the penalty why would I suddenly do something so out of character simply because I am faced with yet another instance of being wrong?

If you think you "know" different then you can't truly entertain the idea that there is no God.

I think that true wisdom leads people to understand that reality is a difficult thing to pin down. It is very difficult for atheists to say they "know" anything because we realize how utterly complicated the universe and being sentient truly is, and how limited we are in terms of ability to understand it all.

Nope. I know when I die, that's the end of it. I ain't sleeping, I ain't dreaming, I cease to function. I will not be standing in clouds either. I was dead for a full 5 minutes once. I drowned. I saw nothing, experienced nothing, felt nothing. It was as if I blinked, that's it. I didn't even know I was dead until I was told.

If I'm wrong and there is a god, then I will have to kick my own butt for getting so wrong.
I would still not worry about going to hell as I've lived a good and honest life ( so far )
If he is a vengeful god and sends me to hell, I'll be glad I never wasted my time devoting my life to him.

I would have to say that I do not agree because there's no god to face. You say you know differently, tell me how.

Why would I even want to come face to face with someone like him. He killed his own son, for people that are supposedly beneath him. He asked for blood sacrifice and then commanded that everyone worship him or die and burn forever. My Goddess and God are kind and forgiving. They would not burn one of their own. only your god would burn someone who has lived a good and righteous life for not believing in him
