It disgusts me, and I think the protests they hold are ridiculous, and the signs they hold make me so angry.
What can be done?

They crave attention, so the best thing to do is to completely and utterly ignore them. Pay absolutely no attention to them, no matter how heinously they behave.
It's kind of how you deal with a three year old who's having a tantrum because they can't have a lollipop. Leave them in their room and let them rant until they fall asleep.

Anyone who's ever read the Bible knows that these people are NOT Christians. Jesus said you will know a tree by it's fruit.
Jesus also said that there would be men who came and led many astray. I believe this is true of the Westboro Baptist Church... the members of that church gone astray, as they blatantly and continually trash Jesus' name to the public.
It is not only an angering situation, but a frustratingly sad one, also.

I agree with you. They are not real Christians- Christ would never condone what they do. They do not interpret the Bible correctly, or they would know that Jesus would never tell his disciples to go out and protest against people. The disciples wanted to call fire down from heaven when people didn't believe what Jesus was telling them, but Jesus told them that was not His way. There are always going to be religious legalists. This group is one of them. The only way to fight this is to find scripture that disagrees with their teaching, and pray for them.

Honestly, i have read the bible and nothing they have said until this point disagrees with anything that I have read... sorry but that's just my impression of them, seems like they're following the bible word to word. but do let me know why you would think otherwise.. The Protesting at funerals is a whole different thing though...

I cant imagine if I were a family member or friend at a funeral they protested. They are now doing it for soilders who have died in Iraq (apparently Gods war on the US) as well. These people are nuts and doing the devils bidding if you ask me.

Yikes!!! Yeah you are so right but its called freedom of speech so there isn't anyting that can be done. I guess you could organize a gay pride parade to march right by the place and end in their parking lot and have a huge rally!!! Rainbow flags and ALL!!!

This whole thing drives me nuts, and I am not happy about the witness this is giving others about Christians.
If you have an idea to get them quiet I am more then happy to help out. But they have a group of lawyers of their side of things.

They are where they are because they have to be there spiritually. I was as carnal as they are once but I didn't come in the name of Christ nor was I so hateful. They can't understand how they help create Atheist. (Atheist have better morals for certain.)
Their purpose will be understood soon.

It's a "Church" only in name and for tax purposes. In reality it's a family cult run by a very disturbed individual.
The best thing is to ignore them. If you pay them attention it makes them feel persecuted, and therefore important.

the reason this is allowed to happen is from all you whining christians kicking and screaming that you are not allowed to practise your religion and as a result those lawyer members of that church feed on that and are legally allowed to do this and the police put their lives on the line for them because of you ... just because you want to do bible class in public school lunchrooms and use bull horns around school campuses so i hope all you christians know this is your fault it really is
