Recap: I'm 20 and my boyfriend is 21. We dated for almost 2 yrs. in the past, broke up for 7 mo. (no communication), and now we've been back together for 6 mo.

My boyfriend is transferring over to a new college. I'm transferring as well, but we're both commuting. He needs to take about 5 courses per semester and he wants to work 16 hours a week. He will not give up his crotch rocket, which he's making payments on still. He keeps saying that there will be no time for anything else besides school and work. He's distancing himself from me and he's not acting like himself anymore. He cannot handle stress.

We broke up last time for the very same reason. He started a new job and was freaking out that all his time would be dedicated to school and work. He admitted once we started dating again that he had acted like a jerk.

He's pushed himself away and needs time now. He's "confused" and "wants" to love me. A week ago he loved me. Should I give him space? Last time I didn't and he ran...

Give him space. He is taking on a huge load of school work.

College work isn't simply done on campus. In addition to the classroom, 1 to 3 hours per class are required outside of the classroom environment.

He wants to graduate on time, and for this it takes commitment... support his goals.... He will remember the latitude you gave.

He's also working part time, which probably works into back to back commitments with school and work and coursework requirements. Do the math... how many hours does he have in a day? He wants to graduate on time and support himself. This is a difficult time in any person's life.

This man seems to love you... give him a little..... He'll tell you when he has an hour of free time... let me tell you, it will only be an hour or so at a time right now (I'm doing the same thing here, but I have the support of my loved ones).

Blessings...

If you don't give him space, he will eventually take it anyway. You can't control a guys life completely. Find some things to occupy yourself. That way the time you do not spend together will not seem so long. Everyone needs space sometimes. You might find that you enjoy having more time to yourself also.

his education is very important, its not like college will be forever, just for a few years, if he wants to dedicate his time to studies and work then let him, theres nothing wrong with that, and you should worry about your grades as well, give each other time
