Long but before they let it reach out they snip off three fingers then oil it up. Amazingly on occasion the long arm of the law does get someone.

Long enough to drag you back from most places to bring you to justice. Not just long but patient too. That's why there is no statute of limitations on major felonies.

Depends on what crime was committed. Sometimes alligator arms, other times just as long as it takes to bring you back to justice

I work in a County Jail. I've seen people who committed crimes in other countries and were arrested here...people who ran while on work release and were caught in other counties...people wanted from 20 years ago and were caught in my county....
