I have a Lhasa Apso puppy that's about 1 year old. When we first got her I noticed this little lump just below her ribs on her stomach. At first I didn't think anything of it and just let it go, but ever since that it's just been getting bigger and bigger. What is it? Is it serious? Is she going to die? Please help I really worried! :(

It sounds like an umbilical hernia. See if your vet can remove it when they spay her.

If you have been that worried why haven't you had it checked by your vet?

From the location it sounds like an umbilical hernia or in easy terms a belly button that didn't form properly. Normally they close by themselves but as your dog is over 1 and it is getting bigger it hasn't. There is a chance that your dog's intestines will come(or already have) through this gap and this can cause severe injury or death.

Get your dog to the vet and be prepared for surgery.

I just lost my little Willow girl three weeks ago. She was a plain fawn boxer. She survived numerous biopsies and surgeries. Her spleen ruptured on Dec. 3, 2005 and she was given 60 days to live. Well, she beat the odds and lived until 7/30/07. I am missing her terribly.
Please go to the vet! Do you live near New York City. Go to the Animal Medical Center on 61st and 1st Aven. Go and make an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Bonzynski. She's brilliant!
It will depend upon what type of lump or cancer it is. I hope it's nothing but a skin tag. Please let me know.

You should only listen to take the puppy to the vet and if you cannot afford to, ask a family member if you have one or research areas in you neighborhood for cheap or free help, There is nothing petty a bump that continues to grow in size can be, but please don't assume the worst it could be simple and far from deadly, like a woman with a cyst not cancer but scary,,,, All my Best Wishes to you and your pet.

It's most likely an umbilical hernia, and you need to get it repaired before it gets much larger,or it could twist and kill her.If she isn't spayed, you can have that done at the same time.

Here is a link to an article about hernias in dogs.

Possibly an umbilical hernia but go see your vet. Especially as it is getting bigger.

Why in the world haven't you had a vet take a look at it? If it's cancer, it will have spread by now, and it may be too late to treat. Get her in before the weekend.

Next time you go to the vet have it looked at. It could be a fatty tumor. If it is not painfull to the dog it's not an omg get to the vet this minute problem. Watch it and any increase in size or pain when palpating go to the vet.

It could be anything... maybe an umbilical hernia or a cyst... Whatever it is, it needs to be seen by a vet.
