Well, Catholicism is, I feel, a form of Christianity that is easier to follow than others. I mean, there maybe all sorts of debates about 'idol-worship' and all that, but personally, I feel that religious rites are nothing more than a focal point for people - so that they can fix their minds on God.
I went to a Catholic school. I do say Catholic prayers often (though I am a Hindu) and yes, I do have lots of Catholic friends - including nuns and priests.
Being a Hindu, rituals are quite easy for me to relate with, and Catholicism has a good deal of those. But I do feel that those are the necessary trimmings - people just find it difficult to focus on an amorphous Divine. That's why every religion - including Islam, Protestantism, Nature Worship, Hinduism and everything - has some kind of symbolism attached to it. So, there is no need to discriminate against Catholicism in particular about being ritualistic.

Where I come from, the conversion practices of Catholics are less...let us say... insistent. Where I come from Protestants encourage conversion fervently and well, most of the claims they make about religion seem incredible to most of us.

So basically, I think Catholicism is a beautiful and dignified form of Christianity.

Catholicism is one of the main branches of Christianity. While they hold to some beliefs that are different from Protestants, those differences are relatively minor details. In the important areas, we are in agreement.

Yes, I have Catholic friends, and we have had some interesting discussions about theology. We argue about those details, but it is good natured.

There are a very few denominations that tend to shun Catholics, but they often do not really understand the history of the church.

My view on Catholics? Just another religious group - decent people for the most part, some bad people as well, but you find that in ANY group.

I personally don't run about asking people their religion - it matters little to me. Most of my family is Catholic up to my immediate family.

Why would I shun someone on something so minor as a religious preference? That's just pitiful and shallow of people who do.

Religion doesn't matter much to me in my choice of friends. THeir character does. I can be friends with anybody so long as neither side is forcing it. To be a friend, you must accept them the way they are, but guide them gently if you honestly feel they may get hurt. My mother is Catholic, I have Catholic friends. People are people no matter what. To base your opinion of a person on a label is ridiculous. I have atheist friends, pagan friends, all kinds of friends. And I'd be there for them just as they'd be there for me in any trouble.

What kind of warped school are you attending that would have this as a project?

Catholics are the largest group in the Christian faith. And according to most Christians, Christianity must be the correct faith since they out number the other faiths, so that must mean that the Catholics are the correct faction of Christianity. So everyone else is screwed.

Skewed in that catholics enable some atonement for this sin counting on the circumstances. Suicide is homicide and homicide is forbidden in God's Commandments. One can't ask forgiveness for committing the sin of suicide after the deed is performed and for this reason will stand in judgment for that sin. keep in mind what you enable your self to think of, see, hear, say and do actually set into action God’s ingenious powers that type the matrix of existence’s fact you finally end up now walking, no depend if sturdy or undesirable, so be circumspect, putting your innovations, eyes, ears and tongue on what's sturdy, useful and useful. I like Catholics very much, although I have some theological differences with them, I find that I sometimes agree with them theologically. I know Catholics and I would never shun them. They're good people.

It's a religion that takes a great deal of faith, and that confuses and often threatens people who put reason above faith.

Judaism in its 20th century forom is very much a religion of reason, and many of the other Christian sects today have become or are rapidly becoming populist - the tenets of the faith are determined by the number of people who believe or accept them.

Catholics maintain a theology and a structure that has remained essentially unchanged for well over a thousand years. That takes a great deal of faith, and because their belief system is not susceptible to polls and public opinion, many people find them threatening.

The Catholic Church is fantastic, it does not change its beliefs to simply appear fashionable, it is not afraid of being viewed as unpopular.

Catholic services are about praying to God, not dancing around the isles (the buzz that people get doing this could well be adrenaline and not God).

Well my friend used to be Catholic until her mom was discommunicated.

Generally, I find Catholics to be more serious about their religion. I think (or at least hope) they respect Muslims as they should....I am not particularily fond of the Pope but I have to realize that not all Catholics share his views.

peace.
