I just want to know if the Philadelphia Police Academy a lot like boot camp? I know there will be some intense moments of course. My mom has been on the force for 13 yrs., and a lot has changed since then. Is there anyone who has completed the academy within the last 5 yrs. who can elaborate more on what the training consists of.
Thank you.

No, It is not as physically intense as Army or Marine Boot camp. There is alot of reading and class material that is conducted. In the army there is classroom work but mosto f it is field training and field excerises with alot of physical Activity.

To sum it up It is more mentally challenging than physically.

Yes in a way. Seek the department you want to join. Pick up a Job Announcement. The Job announcement should state what qualifications are to be met with PT. The further needed any Skills, knowledge and abilities to be learned.
